Wedding Tea

White Tea by Harney & Sons

Wedding Tea is an elegant blend crafted for that very special day. Beautiful pink rosebuds and petals capture the eye amidst Chinese Mutan white tea buds, creating the perfect wedding tea. The lemon and vanilla addition impart a wonderfully aromatic scent. A token of the years to come, it is a tea of pure bliss for a most noteworthy occasion.

Oh, wow. This is fantastic! Lovely and light and, dare I say, perfect. Dry the rose scent comes through a lot stronger, but mellows nicely when steeped and the vanilla gently escorts your nose into the first sip. I get a titch of what seems like a hint of almond? But all the flavors are so even, dancing with each other politely. No sign of a drunken uncle at this wedding ;)

Today my husband and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary – we are drinking Harney & Sons Wedding Tea and reviewing it together.

We used one sachet per 8 oz cup (a little stronger than the suggested usage) in 180 degree water and steeped it for 3 minutes; the result was a deep yellow-orange liquor. The flavor was delicate but not weak.

We were both able to distinguish individual notes of vanilla and rose with a faint lemon background on a base of white tea, but when we sat back and experienced the ingredients in concert we discovered the taste and aroma of marshmallow candy.

We both enjoyed this tea; my husband rated it a 77, I gave it a 79.

I just had to get the tagalong because it’s just so cute. And I decided to give this one a whirl since lately it’s been pumpkin this, pumpkin that. Finally used up all my pumpkins and made a batch of pumpkin cookies. Had a Starbucks pumpkin latte for (I think?) the first time ever and underwhelmed, so I wanted a shift. Vanilla and lemon, eh? Sounds good to me.

I’ve been running around like a headless chicken preparing to lead a seminar tomorrow, so I unfortunately let the first cup steep for too long. It smelled fabulous though. The vanilla here is gorgeous, like vanilla bean whipped cream or something. Very delicate, but so beautiful. I can smell the rose in the distance, which adds a little extra sophistication.

The first cup tasted too bitter but the second was what I was expecting. The base is the most noticeable, followed by the lemon. Not a sour lemon at all, though. It’s smoothed out and pale.

It’s not a bold tea at all, but in a good way. Like, I can’t really see it offending anyone, so realistically, I can see how this would be a good choice for an event like a wedding. A subtle lemon vanilla white tea is a much better way to go, than say, a pu-erh. But maybe I’m crazy!

I had this at the Roswell Tea House today, and from the description was pretty sure it was Harneys though it didn’t explicitly say. And I was right! It’s probably not good that I’m memorizing tea descriptions, is it?

I could take or leave the rose, but the idea of a lemon vanilla white was too good to pass up. Initially when I got the pot it seemed astringent, and I was worried it had been oversteeped, but I think that was just the tartness of the lemon. As it cooled the vanilla peeked out more and smoothed out the ends of the sip. The rose kind of wove in and out between the other flavors but it seemed more noticeable in the scent than anything else. And the white tea was the perfect backdrop – it was a light tea perfect for spring. This is one that I could definitely see as being good cold. Once I make a dent in the mountain of tea I currently possess I’ll probably buy some to give it a shot!

My oldest daughter asked me to order some white tea for her. She has only recently begun to drink tea, and only because she has read so much about the benefits, so she really isn’t going to be attracted by the TEA taste. Together we chose this one as her starting place for white tea.

The aroma is lovely and very light and…feminine? The vanilla dominates but isn’t really strong. The liquor is darker than I expected. I think she will love this. My first sips were reminding me of something and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it at first. Then I got it…wedding cookies! The ones dusted with confectioner’s sugar. As it cools the lemon steps forward a little more, but overall this is a delightfully restrained tea with great flavor and classic character. Give this to your guests who think they don’t like tea and you will probably make them into tea converts.

Tea party began today with this tea. I had purchased it for my daughter who wanted to try some white teas and she really didn’t like it. My guest today, who usually strongly favors black tea, really liked it a great deal. Of the three teas we had today, none was a clear winner over the others. This is the first time we haven’t each expressed clear preferences, though our preferences are often different.

The vanilla flavor is strongest, though don’t take that to mean that it is strong. It is a delicately flavored tea but not one where you have to silence the radio, squint one eye, and concentrate to find the flavor. Behind the vanilla comes the light lemon note, very softly. This was really lovely today.

This mostly tastes of vanilla to me, though if you give it a good swish or let it cool a little you get a nice taste of the lemon. This is a really lovely tea.

this actually smelled like chocolate and rose, and tasted a bit that way too. I appreciate the complexity, but would only drink this once in a blue moon.

I love this tea. I originally got it for serving at a bridal shower, but I like it so much I kept the extra and have since bought more. It’s got a delicate, sweet, vanilla-citrus taste that perfectly compliments the white tea.

I bought this while on a trip in Savannah, and didn’t want to drink it there because it smelled so good I didn’t want to waste a bag on water that wasn’t quite as good as what I have at home. Instead I just smelled the tea from time to time. Today I’m having a large mug and it’s very good. The bag is large enough to allow the leaves to expand, and it’s really delicious. My office smells amazing, too.

Such a lovely, light cup of tea. I love the smell as I open the bag, and I love how the tea (in the tea bags) is actually pretty. I accidentally heated the water too hot, so after swirling the pot around a bit, I poured a cup into a cold mug (everything’s cold around here these days), then to the actual mug with the tea. Success! Great tea without the high temperature.

Also wondered if anyone had seen this in the NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/09/business/global/09tea.html?pagewanted=1&emc=eta1 It’s about the business of tea. I checked here, and didn’t see too many reviews for the company it discusses (Dilmah), but still thought you might find it interesting!

I got this for Christmas… because one of my family members used my Steepster shopping list to find a tea I wanted!! I love it… though it has to be brewed at a lower temperature and for less time for the taste to be right.

I knew this would be a day where I wouldn’t get to the office until well after lunch, so I needed to brew up a thermos at home to take with me to various meetings. So, I brewed up some Wedding Tea, thinking milder caffeine would be better. However, I spent the whole day wishing I had some breakfast tea. It’s a gray, slushy day, and that would have been much more appropriate.

That being said, every time I took the top off the thermos, the wonderful smell of this tea spilled into the room. And that, in itself, might have been reason enough to have this particular type of tea.

It got late all of a sudden! (I’m guessing that’s because I napped most of the afternoon…) So, for my caffeinated cup of the day I wanted something with a little less. I made a cup of this, in one of my smaller than normal tea cups, and it was great. I brewed this one a little hotter than last time, and could tell, so next time I’ll try the smaller cup + lower temp and see how it does. Yum!

Sadly, my last tea from this set… but still very good. Might have to invest in a bigger tin!

MMMM yum vanilla and roses. Nice kick back summer morning tea.

Absolutly yummy blended with other teas. It mellows almost any tea.
