Hot Cinnamon Spice

Black Fruit Blend by Harney & Sons

It’s spicy! It’s sweet! It’s Hot Cinnamon Spice! As delicious as candy, this medium-bodied black tea also known as Hot Cinnamon Sunset is naturally sweetened to perfection by a blend of cinnamons, orange, and sweet cloves. The remarkably assertive tea effuses a hot spicy aroma and sets off miniature fireworks on the tongue that’ll have you exclaim WOW! Our most popular flavored tea will no doubt become a favorite. As you savor each sip, a gathering of spices settles at the bottom of your teacup for a final indulgence in pure cinnamon bliss! This tea is also known as Hot Cinnamon Sunset.

If you are using individually wrapped sachets please note that each sachet brews a 12oz cup of tea.

This was a tea I wanted to like very badly. I tried hard, but who was I kidding? I hate spicy cinnamon flavor. I do kind of enjoy the smell though.

Another sample from jenn here…I’ve been putting it off because it smells so strong, but I had a chill this morning, and a bit of a stuffy head, so I thought hot cinnamon tea would be good. Plus, I made cinnamon buns this morning…so it was a cinnamon-y morning.

I think this is still too strong. Don’t get me wrong…I like a hot and spicy chai, but this seemed a little one dimensional by comparison, to say Saigon Chai or Chocolate Chili Chai from DAVIDs which is a little more rounded out and multi-dimentional.

Wow, is this tea ever a treat. With a little cream and honey, it turns magical. It’s my BookTasting choice to sip while reading my fantasy novel, Redheart – for the candy-sweet sting of cinnamon, like dragon’s breath.

Check out all my BookTastings (tea and book pairings) on my website. It’s fun!

I emailed Rhonda at H&S about this just last Friday, and she offered to send me a sample which my postie delivered first thing this (Mon) morning – how’s that for excellent customer service ?! Unfortunately I was running out the door when it arrived so all I could manage was a quick sniff, and that was enough to see me rushing thorough my errands and racing back home to try it asap .. And let me say it did not disappoint!

From the dry leaf to the brewed cup it smells of strong sweet cinnamon (YUM!), and even without sugar it’s a treat .. But (imho) it tastes even better with 1teaspoon of raw; no milk though, it would be wrong to adulterate it further!

Sweet Strong Cinnamony Goodness, and the second steep was just as good as the first .. Even as it started to cool off in my cup it was delicious, and this will absolutely definitely find a permanent home in my cupboard and cup :P

This tea is similar to Market Spice, Good Earth Original and Hobee’s Cinnamon Orange iced tea, but I prefer it to any of those. It has a very smooth character and full body with a nice balance of cinnamon, cloves and orange. It’s not subtle by any means and honestly the actual black tea flavor is a bit steamrolled by the aromatics, but I really like it. It is surprisingly sweet; I don’t know if there is sugar in here, but it tastes like it.

I like to steep longer than usual, as it tends to be a little weaker than I like at a normal steep time.

I love cinnamon but this was a bad choice for a summer evening – I’m so spiced up that I’m sweating! Should have saved this for a chilly night.

Oh I loved this tea at first sip. I thought that it smelled great.. of pure cinnamon and was nicely sweetened by itself. The flavor was something unique, spicy and uplifting. Maybe I had had too many cups.. but after a while, it just started tasting like rubber, literally. I took a break from the tea and came back.. and again, rubber. I want to be able to drink it as it was a nice sweet cup, but won’t be able to get around that flavor.

When I first cracked open my sampler tin on this tea and the strength of the cinnamon hit my nostrils I immediately thought I’d made a mistake. Overpowering really is too mild a word to describe the cinnamon scent on the unbrewed leaves of this tea (it almost burns your nose). It is strong stuff! Imagine my surprise when the final brew turned out to be a quite excellent balance of cinnamon flavor and black tea. This is easily the best cinnamon tea I’ve ever tasted. My wife is a huge fan of cinnamon, so I gave her a cup to try and she was blown away. She said it reminded her a lot of a wassell her grandmother used to make at Christmas time, and I’m inclined to agree with her assessment. Although its not billed as a holiday tea, I think this is an excellent Christmastime brew that is also very easily liked by people who aren’t typically fans of drinking hot tea. A very good one to keep in the cupboard for guests (or yourself if you are a big fan of cinnamon)!

Its perfect for the winter months – the blends of cinnamon are incredible – needs no sweetness- check this out even if you aren’t a tea drinker.

I LOVE this tea. It is, hands down, my favorite tea so far. It’s so good that I consider drinking it a “treat”.

My first experience with this tea was, strangely enough, at Uno’s Pizzeria. I was there with my parents, and my mom wanted to order tea. I warned her not to. “It’s Uno’s”, I said. “You probably don’t want to try their tea.” Little did I know that Uno’s stocks tea by the amazing Harney & Sons company…

My mother sipped from her mug and made a face: unmistakably, surprised delight! I asked if she had put sugar in the tea yet, which she hadn’t, and I sipped it. “Mom,” I said, annoyed, “you said you didn’t put sugar in it.” “I didn’t!” she exclaimed. Incredible. A plain black tea that naturally tastes sweetened…!?

This tea is perfect for fall, and for the holidays. It tastes like holiday potpourri smells—warm and full-bodied. The smooth “black tea” taste comes after a wave of sweetness caused by the spices. It tastes like apple cider, minus the apple. My only criticism is that the flavors don’t exactly “blend together” properly, so that sweet follows neutral follows spicy in a somewhat haphazard way—do you agree?—or maybe that actually adds to its charm.

Update: this tea just got even better.

I prepared it more “properly” this time. I used only 1 cup of water, rather than stretching the capacities of teabag with nearly 2 cups as I usually do. I steeped it for only 5 minutes, as is recommended. And, reluctantly, I did something that I almost never do—namely, added two tablespoons of unsweetened hemp milk to the tea.

Wow—even better! The milk really did eliminate the “sequential flavor” phenomenon. I’m sure any sort of milk (dairy or non-) would work just as well. Everything was much more blended and balanced…! Delicious _.

The aroma of spice and cinnamon fills the room during steeping. This tea tastes like a red hot candy and almost as sweet. It really doesn’t need added sweetness, but when I had another cup I added a local honey straw I had and really enjoyed the added honey note.

Had this tea while eating an Indian curry, the strong cinnamon aroma put me off a little bit, but the taste was excellent. Sweet, no over powering cinnamon, took the edge off the spice of the curry. A match made in heaven.

Good, but not as good as the blend from Carytown Teas, which is the one I’m used to.

Really like this tea! I grew up in Albuquerque and there is a restaurant there called Christy Mae’s that serves a iced spiced tea that has an occult following; this reminds me of that. I have only tried it hot but I have a feeling it will taste even better iced. As this tea is pretty potent I wouldn’t recommend it to people that don’t already like strong spices. If you are not a big fan of cinnamon, spiced cider, or chai then this is not for you.

I’m a huge cinnamon fan and this is currently my goto. I recently gave up coffee and this has become my morning starter.

This tea really need 4-5 min steep time, my wife prepared a cup at around 3 min and there was a huge change in taste. After trying several steep times I settled on 4 1/2 mins as about perfect for me.

Strong cinnamon flavor kind of like Red Hots candy, though not quite as overpowering like I expected. Didn’t find the black tea flavor to come through much at all. It’s quite sweet without any additional sweetener.

Stocking up on this fall-time tea, and waiting for this August heat to be past us. As far as flavored blacks teas go, this one is probably my favorite. Looking forward to drinking this with autumn leaves and pumpkin carving.
