I grabbed a tagalong tin of this from Harney & Sons when I bought the Queen Catherine. Trying to branch out from Jasmine green teas to see if I like any other flavored green teas. The sachets are beautiful – hot pink and blue petals with orange skin pieces and green tea. Smells very bright. After brewing, the color was a slightly cloudy light yellow. In the tea itself, I smell mostly citrus, especially lemon. It isn’t bitter at all (I almost wish it was a little) and tastes more fruity & bright than anything else to me. Might be brewing it too weak, but not my favorite! Will of course give it another shot later especially since it’s so pretty.

I am still getting used to green teas, but as I further my tea exploration I am enjoying expanding my tastes. I got this tea as a sample in my April Sips by box, and I do have to say on first try I rather like it! I am a big fan of citrus, so the lemon and orange notes are delightful, I am still dipping my toe in floral teas so I think I enjoyed the floral notes, but either way I do like this tea, and when I finish my sample I might buy more, which is a big step for me in regards to green tea.

Try number 2.

Aroma from the packet was all lemon drops.

Made sure the water in my kettle was fresh and made sure it never went above 170 and shortened the brewing time to 2.5 minutes.

The skunk was still there while brewing. However, the shorter brewing time may have helped as the skunk seems to have stayed with the leaves instead of being in the cup.

The lemon is more noticeable now. That’s about it though. Nothing floral. Can’t even taste the tea.

Not impressed.

Tried cold-brewing this one this afternoon. I’m not a fan when it’s hot—too bitter and grassy with lemon so strong it’s a punch to the face. Cold it’s less grassy and smoother but there’s still a slight lemon peel edge (although keep in mind that I’m very sensitive to bitter tastes). I’m not tasting much floral here, and anything that’s there is overpowered by the lemon. It could use some sweetness (or the missing flowers!) to balance it out.

Whoa! So lemony! When I ordered this, I must have been so blinded by the beautiful tin that I totally skipped over the part where it said lemon and only paid attention to “green tea” and “flowers.” To be honest, upon first opening the tin, all I smelled was Lysol. I forced myself to try a cup and just ignore the smell. The taste is better and the fragrance calms down quite a bit after brewing. I’m never really a huge fan of lemon scented things, but I won’t mind drinking this. Definitely going to try it iced next.

I adore this tea. It’s a nice melody of green tea, infused with citrus and a hint of floral. It’s not too grassy, yet not overpowering with floral either. It’s just a nice, lovely balance. If I’m in the mood for a green tea blend, this is the one I reach for. It’s an uplifting tea that leaves you energized and refreshed.

I picked this tea tonight because green tea is known to have less caffeine than black tea or puerh. How I wish it was the opposite. As I drank this i noticed a flower flavor and a vegetal flavor. I really was not noticing the citrus notes this tea is said to have, ah well. It is a fairly fresh tasting tea, full of vitality in a sense I guess. I don’t mean that my tea wasn’t stale, although it wasn’t, it just tasted fresh, hard to describe exactly what I mean. I did enjoy this tea. I hope it doesn’t keep me from sleeping as I have another in an unending series of abysmally early days tomorrow.

I brewed this once in an 18oz teapot with 3 tsp leaf and 175 degree water for 3 min.

Sipdown. It took me a long time to get through this tin. I liked the flavor a lot at first, but it didn’t wear well and soon it got demoted to the shelf of so-so teas. If it was oversteeped at all it got bitter and too flowery, but even when made correctly the flowery-ness was a bit much. This probably sounds like a dumb complaint about a tea called “Chinese Flower” — it’s not like H&S was being sneaky about the ingredients here — but when I got a sample of the tea, the predominant flavors were actually lemon and orange, with just a hint of floweriness. Either the balance of flavors in the tin was actually different, or my tastebuds just picked up on different things after I’d had several cups.
