hmmm
What can I say, I love gunpowder tea but after yesterday’s somewhat disappointing Canton green/orange experience I was not expecting too much with this one…

Gunpowder is one of my favorite green teas, I love the bold and assertive nature of it. This is VERY lemony and bold, slightly vegetal but mostly lemon. I am finding it quite refreshing this morning. I bet this would also be really good iced.

When it comes to flavored green teas I am loving the flavored gunpowder, Moroccan mint is also nice. I think perhaps it’s because the flavoring does not overwhelm the gunpowder since it’s so bold.

This is yummy! If you like gunpowders check it out… it also resteeps well

I just tried cold brewing this overnight and it makes a nice iced tea! Maybe not as good as Moroccan mint but still quite delicious! I do love gunpowder…

Finishing off the rest of this sample today. I learned if you oversteep this, it is truly terrible. I got a second steep out of the leaves which I am enjoying a lot…

I was so pleased when I opened the bag for this—it’s like POW lemon right in your face. Nothing subtle about the flavoring here! I like my lemon blends strong, so right off the bat this tea was off to a good start.

The lemon is really strong when brewed—bright and citrusy, I feel like this would be a great tea for those early mornings when you have to drag yourself out of bed. But the base is actually stronger, surprisingly! This tea starts lemony and finishes lemony, but in the middle it’s a delicious, grassy, ever-so-slightly smokey gunpowder. I am definitely going to try this iced with sugar, it’s already so refreshing hot and I’m sure those qualities would be even better cold. Urgh, I’m already regretting only getting two ounces of this! Good thing H&S is only a subway ride away~

This tea smells sooooooo wonderful! Very pleasantly lemony. When oversteeped it’s one of the worst teas I’ve tasted, but when steeped properly it is easily among my favorites.

The first time I brewed it, I followed H&S suggestion of steeping it for 3 minutes, but I may have lost track of time and let it go on for 3:30. To me it tasted way oversteeped and it was truly awful. I tried adding a bit of honey to tame the bitterness, but it didn’t help.

For the second steeping I let it go for just 1:15, which was perfect for me. It’s a very nice, bold gunpowder with a wonderful lemony smell and taste that’s strong but not overpowering.

I got a good 4 steeps out of this today! The lemon is most prominent in the first two steeps and then fades away leaving behind a very pleasant green tea taste.
