I received the most A-MAZING package from Doulton yesterday! You are going to be seeing many, many THANK YOU FOR THIS TEA DOULTON tasting notes in my log in the next few…months! at least months! :)

So, Doulton. Thank you for this tea!!!!

It is tied together in a little bunch, but is not “blooming” – it just gets…plump. It does not scare me. :) It smells great – sweet and tea-y – and it is DELICIOUS. Imagine Golden Monkey with a little extra attitude…and a bottle of honey! I read that one puff makes 6-8 oz of tea, so I was careful not to put too much water in my brewer cup, and was rewarded with an absolute elixir! LOVE that golden mouthfeel.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Doulton!

A very sad day. The last puff of Golden Mudan!

This tea is so easy to drink! Round, full, but gentle. Honey and soft sweetness. Just a complete pleasure. Plus, it’s cute! I wish you could still purchase it at H&S, but it’s not even on the website anymore :(

Thank you Doulton, from the bottom of my heart, for this extraordinary tea!

My next to last puff of Golden Mudan! Sob! This is another one of my favorite hot weather teas. It’s so flavorful but light. Honeyed and sweet. I’m on my third resteep and it’s still delicious and flavorful.

Those of you who have enjoyed Golden Mudan – do you think this looks like a similar puff?

I think I am going to give it a whirl even though they are a bit expensive because I so very love this flavor profile!

My “Golden” teas are really taking a hit in this hot, sticky weather. Golden Monkey is now gone! (sob) We know Golden Snail is bye-bye! Yunnan Golden Bud is half gone! and I only have three puffs of this gem left. I brewed it a little longer and the sweetness is unreal and on the verge of apricot. Ah! So good. I love how all these golden teas have their own charms. Chocolate, honey, yams, apricot!

I bought this because it was on sale. I will buy it again because it is AWESOME! There are strong honey notes – nay, the pot fairly exhuded honey and honeybees! Winnie the Pooh would follow this pot of tea around! If you like Golden Monkey by H&S or Zhen Quo by Southern Season, you should like this one as well. Sweet and light, with plenty of flavor. It went well with our chilled eclairs! (It is about 100 degrees here.) This was wonderful without milk or sugar.

This is a lovely tea that I am sorry to see they no longer carry at Harney and Sons. It is smooth, sweet, and somewhat light, but with very good flavor. I drank it plain, youngest takes it with milk and sugar. I plan to resteep, and after that, I will have enough for one more pot and that tin will be at an end! I use four wreaths to my Beehouse pot, and I based that on weight.

If ever I found that it was impossible to get Harney and Sons Golden Monkey again, this would be a really close second that I would be happy to buy. Golden Mudan has the sweetness and honey notes of Golden Monkey, but lighter and not as full-bodied. I don’t really get roasty or toasty from it, but it has delightful charms of its own. It is still absolutely delicious! It was particularly good today with the fudgy brownies we baked and served with sugared strawberries from a local farm. Yummy!

Still has delightful honey notes and a nice, light flavor. I like this tea sans additions. This is not as flavorful as Golden Monkey but is still a very nice tea. We love the little hand-tied wreaths of leaves. This one is sold out at present on Harney and Sons.

SOB! This is the second tea this week that I will have to remove from my cupboard, and this is especially sad because they don’t sell this tea anymore! I think of it as Golden Monkey lite, but it has many charms all it’s own. It is honeyed and caramel-y, refined, delicious with tea treats, AND it resteeps pretty well. it has lighter body than Golden Monkey. Delicious, and it will be missed!
