White Vanilla Grapefruit

Fruit White Blend by Harney & Sons

White teas enriched by vanilla and brightened by grapefruit bring forth the cleansing White Vanilla Grapefruit tea. Each refreshing brew reveals light and smooth citrus tones. The indulgent vanilla aroma, pleasantly surprising and suggestive of chocolate, engulfs the white tea in its sweet embrace. The whimsical fusion of white teas, vanilla, and fresh citrus makes for a complex yet wonderful equation.

Intriguing tea. The white base here is of the stronger more robust variety, bordering on woody. I cold brewed mine. I can imagine that this one is sensitive to oversteeping with hot water. The base is also a bit like dark chocate which pairs nicely with the vanilla. It’s a very smooth and sweet vanilla. Very pleasant! Unfortunately, the grapefruit part of this tea is quite lacking. The flavor shows up only in the after taste and lingers in a bad way. Like cheap air freshener. But it’s faint so it’s not so bad.

Over all this is a pleasant tea to go with sweets. I probably won’t get more but I’ll enjoy it while I have it. Might try putting some citrus zest in at some point to highlight the grapefruit. I do think a vanilla citrus combo can be quite nice.

This was a freebie that came with my latest Harney & Sons order. When I opened the package, I "eek"ed out loud because the sachet was not properly sealed. Tea almost spilled everywhere. The whole bottom of the bag had not been closed. Strange! So I dumped it all into my infuser and continued.

It didn’t smell very much like grapefruit dry or while steeping. I mostly smelled the delicious vanilla they use in the Vanilla Comoro. (But not as overwhelmingly strong.) There’s a vague hint of citrus, but I feel like if I didn’t know it was there, I wouldn’t have known what it was. But the flavor is quite different! The vanilla is more dominant than the fruit, but the grapefruit is quite present, especially on the exhale. It’s very nice, in a unique way. I can’t say much for the white tea, as it has been smothered by other flavors. But this is really interesting, and enjoyable.

I’m very surprised this one has a lower rating. I think it’s a charming little tea!

The scent is so pretty and delicate yet refreshing and FRESH. It infuses darker than I anticipated for it being a white.

I can certainly smell and taste both the vanilla AND the grapefruit. This is YUMMY…and I even overinfused! I’m confident this will be nice iced as well! This is a good flavored white but you must enjoy grapefruit and vanilla to appreciate, I guess. Regardless…I’m going against the grain here or maybe it’s going out on my own in saying I like this just fine…maybe a little more than fine…thumbs up from me!!!!

LOVE the gentle mixture of aromas in this! I’m still going against the grain here and enjoying this tea! Even tho I seem to be in the minority…I’m standing my ground! :) The vanilla cuts the grapefruit and the grapefruit cuts the vanilla and there is a bit of floral to it. This is very pleasant.

backlogging from last week…see previous notes…I will miss this one :(

I’m taking SimplyJenW’s lead here in wishing Mr. Harney a very Happy Birthday!!!!

This tea is another one from my impulse buy gone awry, but at least this tea IS in sachets. I’ve had White Vanilla Grapefruit before and I’ve liked it. Tonight, for some odd reason, it tastes bitter and bad. Why? Wwwhhhyyyy???? I think I need some sleep, so no rating for now.

thank you mercuryhime!

I’m not sure what to make of this tea. Is it a light refreshing tea? yes. Is it vanilla or grapefruit? sort of. The grapefruit and vanilla are very subtle in this one. That being said? I’m still enjoying this one, even if i’m not sure what else to say about it lol

SIPDOWN! (242) Thanks mercuryhime for sharing this one with me. I tried the last of this as a cold brew and it was pretty tasty. Still no grapefruit taste to speak of but it’s quite a nice vanilla citrus tea. :) Probably not a re-buy but i for sure wouldn’t turn this down!

I had a teabag of this tea, which was older than I liked to admit, but it was actually pretty tasty. Definitely overwhelming amount of vanilla, and not too much grapefruit. My boyfriend tried this and he LOVED it. Of course he likes the expensive tea. I looked online, and they only sell it loose by the pound?! Geez.. that’s pricey.

This tea is one of the first teas I ever had in a pyramid style sachet. It’s smooth and sweet with some really fantastic tart in the finish.

Mellow and sweet with just enough tang from the grapefruit to provide balance.. This is a very nice tea. Easy to relax with, and easy to enjoy.

The taste of this was so strange I can’t tell if I like it or not! The vanilla is definitely the most dominant flavour, with a tiiiny hint of grapefruit coming through on the aftertaste. Kinda like a school kid left behind on a field trip.

85 degree water with a 2 minute steep yielded plastic flavours with plastic undertones of more plastic. What the heck. This smelled like orange julius, and tastes absolutely nothing like it. I had to dump this cup unfortunately. Thanks Harney and Sons anyway for the free sample!

I don’t care for grapefruit, so it’s no wonder why I didn’t like this. However, I’m reviewing this for those that DO like grapefruit in a rather backwards way. The white tea and vanilla are lovely and delicate. The grapefruit, to me, tastes a lot like actual grapefruit. Which of course makes my entire face pucker and unavoidably jerk my head to the right. So, point being, grapefruit aficionados, give this a shot, as it passed my spastic test =(

Not sure what to think of this tea. Part of me kind of enjoys it, but for the most part it’s just not working for me. I got this as a sample sachet with my last order from Harney and I must say that the dry leaf smelled GREAT. But when I tasted it, it was just a bit too perfumey and the flavoring seemed to overpower the tea. Somehow it reminded me of a very subtle, white tea version of earl grey. It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t purchase it.

An interesting white tea with a hint of vanilla. The grapefruit has a pithy aftertaste to it rather than the fruit itself, but oddly enough I like it. It might be not quite what others expect, though. Use a low temperature and steep long, but not too long.

I’m really loving this tea, and it’s fast becoming one of my favorite after-dinner brews. It’s pretty much as described, kind of like a more tart creamsicle with a bit of the depth of white tea.

Do be careful though, it is sensitive to overbrewing, where the overbrewed tea leaves clash nastily with the grapefruit and gets extra bitter.

It should be amazing on ice, though I haven’t tried it yet.

This is one of my favorite teas. I really enjoy how the flavors interact with each other. Neither the vanilla or the grapefruit is too strong so it leaves you with a nice mellow blend. it’s one of my favorite teas to drink at night as it gets me in the mood for sleepy time.

One of my favorite before bed teas. Nice smooth, mellow flavors to get you ready to snuggle up in bed.

Another pot of White Vanilla Grapefruit this morning. And today, I tasted the grapefruit. It’s in the aftertaste. It leaves a nice, clean slightly citrus taste on your tongue. This gives me even more reason to love this tea. :)

Finally picked up some more of this tea. I’ve missed it in my cup. (or teapot as it is nowadays) The flavors are so nice together. I always seem to miss the grapefruit in it. I know it is there because the vanilla isn’t as dominant as it could be. Maybe I need to steep it longer.
I am still trying to find the perfect brew time for white teas. This brew was 3 min. Any Suggestions on how long white tea should be brewed?

Bought a sachet of this when we were out this last weekend. Normally, I don’t like flavored tea but couldn’t resist the vanilla/grapefruit combo. The smell of this tea upon opening the packet was almost enough to put me off. It was sort of sickeningly sweet. I can taste the grapefruit and the vanilla is more a smell I get when drinking. I was really hoping I could add this to my list of ‘must haves’ from Harney but alas! ’Tis not to be.

A really delicious tea, but don’t let it steep too long. The flavors (White/Vanilla/Grapefruit) don’t seem to go together quite as well as the White Christmas Tea (White/Vanilla/Almond.) I thought the Grapefruit was an exciting kick, though.

This is one of the best teas I’ve ever had! :)

This is my favorite tea at the Cambridge Tea House. They brew is just right. The creamy fragrance of the vanilla compliments the mild white tea.

Refreshing first sensation, pleasant chocolatey notes throughout and lingering. The grapefruit is very, very subtle but the lightness of this citrus addition cuts the creaminess perfectly.
