From Harney & Sons

Deliciously silky and full of complex flavors, our Pomegranate Oolong tea blends large Ti Quan Yin leaves—also known as Iron Goddess of Mercy—with the tangy, sparkling flavor of pomegranate. The result is a luscious and fruit-forward brew with a toasty aroma and ample flavors of bright pomegranate. Brew hot to enjoy its smooth, silky texture and sweet aroma at its finest.

Ingredients: Oolong tea, pomegranate flavor. Contains natural flavors.

Very light-bodied and very tasty, but won’t cut it if you’re in the mood more something more substantial. This one doesn’t hang around on your palate for very long.

I have the “loose leaf” version that comes in silk tea bags, and just left the bag in. I refilled the cup once with almost boiling water. The body was comparable to the first glass, but the fruitiness was much less noticeable.

I’ve been looking to try this tea for sometime since I love Pomegranate. I’m not such a fan of Oolong so I held off. I got lucky when I attended the World Tea Expo Harney had a booth and I was able to get a sample to try. I must say it smell wonderful. I think I smelled it more than I drank it. I liked it but not as much as I enjoyed drinking Paris. I don’t know if it has to do with my not liking Oolongs or not. I have a 2nd packet to try the tea again.
It may also because I have changed the way I brew my tea at work. Rather than drinking from my regular mug I’ve added water to an 8 oz cup and steeped the tea. Will have to give it a 2nd try and compare the two tries. =)

I’m a steadfast bracing black tea drinker, so I enter this tea note with a bit of a bias. While the pomegranate notes in this Oolong are quite tasty in their own right, the tea itself just doesn’t have enough oomph for my taste. A great tea if you’re a green or tisane drinker and don’t mind a very subtle taste, but pretty weak if you’re a black tea fan (especially if, like me, you prefer milk in your tea).

I picked this up on a whim because I’ve always loved pomegranate (and the box, not the one featured here, was so pretty). The fruitiness was divine. Makes a great iced tea too.

The smell when opening the tin is powerfully sweet & fruity. The whiff makes it abundantly clear that an addition of sugar/honey is not necessary.

It is a very delicate oolong, whose flavor blends very well with the pomegranate. As far the the pomegranate flavor goes: wonderful. Most pomegranate teas seem too tart or bitter, but this is the closest I’ve come to tasting that seed flavor in a hot tea.

Does not do well with additional steeps.

Oolong tea and I have a long and warring history. Pomegranate mixed with this tea is a good mix, though. It evens out all the things I dislike about oolong teas and transforms it into something I really loved!

The aroma for the teabag and the steeping aroma is heavenly! I just wish it had a stronger pomegranate flavor. I am going to look for this in a bulk loose leaf to try that; I have just one sampler tea bag right.

Shana tova! Catching up on tasting notes for the week. I waited until Rosh Hashanah to finish this one off so I’d have a tea that’s on theme, a decision that I 0% regret. So, first of all, that makes this my first sipdown of the new year. And it’s a good one! I had a few bags because I’ve gotten them as samples with my orders, but I could totally see actually ordering some of this if I ever got my stash under a modicum of control. The pomegranate flavor is on point without being too sweet or candy-like. I also really like that they paired it with TGY instead of a more floral oolong that might have drowned out the pomegranate; this pairing also makes it a perfect blend for the fall.

This tea is and isn’t. The dry aroma is punchy, but when steeped is just a subtle vegetal aroma coming from the light greenish-yellow liquor with a fair body for how otherwise delicate it is. The flavor is subtly green with some light, smoothing nutty notes and just barely a hint of fruitiness from the pomegranate which I would not identify as pomegranate without it being known ahead of time. It’s pleasing and I found it very drinkable, yet also not particularly noteworthy. I actually want to make some more, curiously. I probably won’t buy it again but I suspect I can finish this off without too much effort.

Perfectly serviceable oolong tea, but I have to strain to even taste a hint of pomegranate flavor.
