I not know if I’m qualified to be judging oolong yet, so I won’t rate this. But thus tea was fantastic. Sweet, creamy, fruity, delightful. It confirms what I thought, I love green oolong!

Oolong and pomegranate sounds like a wonderful mix but the tie guan yin in this mixture is not very tasty and the pomegranate is almost subtle enough that sometimes it may be missed completely.

I love me some green oolong, so I was quite excited to try this one. The leaves get so big that they take up the entire space of the poor sachet! I kind of want to “set them free” and let them expand to their likely enormous capacity. I tried to eat some cheese as a “palate cleanser”, but I don’t think it worked since now I can only taste cheese and creamy oolong… mmmm. Buttery green oolong might be one of my favorite things ever. I can taste a little bit of pomegranate even with the cheese (and unsweetened, win!), so I think I’ll be keeping these babies.

Overboard TTB.

This is a light oolong, so it basically tastes like green tea, which I’ve mentioned is not really my thing. I also think I’ve had a light oolong that I liked better. I didn’t really taste any pomegranate, but it smelled rather floral. Nothing especially remarkable here for me.

I am SOOOO excited to see that you are trying everything from the box!! At least, I think that’s your mission, since you now only have about 4 teas left to try! Yay! :)

I wanted to try as many as possible. I’m actually going to end up missing a couple, as I try not to have too much caffeine in one day, but I did try almost everything so I’m pleased. I got the box prepped to mail out today, though I don’t think I’m actually going to get to the post office till Monday.

I won’t rate this as I don’t think I let it steep long enough. (2:45min). Scent when dry is fruity but not in an overpowering way, quite delicate, maybe a slight floral note as well. It’s probably my first oolong other than a quick taste of ginseng oolong at a tea shop last weekend. I only have 1 sample (can resteep as it’s meant to be for 2 cups). The taste was just too delicate/weak the way I made it. Half teaspoon of brown sugar didn’t help it along. Ah well. I’d like to be able to buy larger samples of tea without having to buy tins or 100g bags of tea. That way I can experiment a bit before reviewing.

Okay, so…
I don’t have a lot a data left for my month so i will be recording all of my reviews over a couple days, and then i will be logging them when I am able to at my local Library.
Anyways,

Sipdown Time (10/13)

I am an oolong kinda guy. I do believe it is in my blood. I have found a few i am not fond of but this isn’t one of them.
One of the things i really like about this is that instead of covering up the flavor of the oolong, this blend works to accent its wonderful flavors with light pomegranate sweetness and acidity. Very Juicy and full of flavor, I think i detect a hint of blueberry or acai. The aroma is astounding… I adore this tea. I also know that i have been siting on this tea for about a year and it is still wonderful.

I drank this a while back but, it seems, never wrote a note? (Or, as I hear, Steepster may have eaten it?) Anyway, this wasn’t bad. But, for me, this wasn’t good enough to ever buy again. I admit…I really only bought it for the tin. My main problem is that this didn’t really taste like pomegranate, unless the insane astringency I got after leaving the bag in my room temp water for like 45 minutes counts as pomegranate? Maybe I just need to sweeten it and have it hot. I’ll try that next time.

Overall I enjoyed this tea. I would suggest at least two steeps on this before tossing. Third steep was kind of boring. You taste more Pomegranate than Oolong flavor in my opinion. It is a lighter Oolong too.

I would consider this a pretty good choice but not something to run out and buy for your cupboard. If you know good tea, then I doubt you will consider this a personal favorite. If you are looking for something fruity and don’t want to be risky, this is probably a fair choice.

Agree, 100%. I liked it well enough as a new tea drinker, but now the flavoring covers up the oolong too much for me. I think guests would love it, though.

I got a sample of this along with my recent Harney purchase and it was one of the teas I was most curious about. Now that I’m making tea in my dorm and not in the comforts of my own house, I realized I haven’t been drinking as much tea. So I had to fix that. (Buying five shipments of new tea might have been a bad idea though, or so my wallet says).

I’m not really a oolong drinker, as straight oolongs tend to taste a bit bland to me. However, this tea had just the right amount of fruitiness and it didn’t even overpower the taste of the oolong base. I don’t know if it’s just me but I also tasted a kind of milky aftertaste that reminded me of milk oolong. But I’m just weird.

So yes, this is a fairly light tea that I probably wouldn’t go to except for when I am craving a light cup to finish my day.

I went with my sister to her friend’s wedding and while we were in Honolulu, we went to the Kahala Resort & Hotel for afternoon tea at The Veranda. It was nice, we were seated outside and had a really good view of the beach side and dolphin pools so that was entertaining. I had the pomegranate oolong and it was good. A little fruity and tart but went well with the little sandwiches and desserts. Our service was good, they were out of the Hamakua Springs Farm Mushroom Turnover so we were sad because it’s what my sister wanted to try but then our waitress said they could make them if we were willing to wait. It was really good. My favorite was the Blue Hawaii Macaroon though. I was hoping they’d have a bigger selection of tea but I’m happy I got the pomegranate oolong. I looked it for it when we went shopping but luckily didn’t find it… Haha.
