Raritea had this today and mentioned it being a little astringent, so i back off the steeping time just to see if i could hit the sweet spot.

This reminds me a little of stacy’s almond tea, but without the over all great tea base. Not that i liked that one of hers, but i could appreciate the tea base. :) This one has an ok flavour to it, but it’ll never be my favourite. I’m glad half the bag is going to Kittenna AND it was free. I think there are a number of you out there who would like this one a bunch, but i’m fairly picky about my almond teas, i’ve found and don’t like ones that remind me of almond extract…which this one does slightly. Still though, Thanks go out to Herbal Infusions for adding a bit of extra fun to the Toronto Tea Festival!! I’ll be sharing my half with a few ppl just to help spread the love :)

1.5 tbsp for 375 ml

Black tea astringency is overpowering the flavouring. I will have to try to infuse at a lower temperature.

What the…. how do I not have a note for this? I’m really surprised/confused, as I swear I’ve had it a few times, at least one of those while I was regularly reviewing…

Anyhow. Not as good as the creme brûlée tea, but not bad. Decent base and some nuttiness, though not a ton of flavour. I was expecting a faceful of marzipan, but it’s not that.

This one came my way in a surprise envelope from Sil. Thanks!

I read the notes beforehand thankfully, and steeped this below boiling. I got preoccupied actually, so the water was nice and cool. I’m not getting any astringency here, but the smell is far better than the actual taste. The taste seems watered down, but I would say that’s definitely my fault. I should have added more leaf, since my mug is oversized, but I wanted to save enough for a second cup in case I messed up haha. There is a hint of soft spiciness and a touch of nuttiness.

I also spent the last hour worrying about the feedback on my albatross research, because three other classmates received their feedback last night. I was sitting here thinking “the feedback/editing must be extreme, how much could I possibly have screwed up?!”. But my prof just emailed me and said it was excellent and looked professional. PHEW.

OMGsrsly

Yay! It’s so awesome to get good feedback.

Great Canadian TTB

Thank you Sil for including a HI blend in the box. Their customer service is such a pain that it is nice to try their teas without having to go through them. This particular tea was really nothing special for me. It smelled more like almond than it tasted as I found it was only a touch nutty. Oh well.
