Creamy Pumpkin Spice

Black Tea by iHeartTeas

In this tea I put in more cream than pumpkin spice to help balance the pumpkin flavor and added a little vanilla. This tea is meant to give you that warm cozy feeling of sitting at the fireplace wrapped in a blanket. Try it with a touch of already warm milk and a dash of sugar/sweetner. It will warm your heart. Enjoy!

Thank you to Rachel from iHeartTeas for a lovely sample packet of this tea!!
It’s wonderful, truly! The spices mix superbly with the pumpkin, and the vanilla is just fine! (yes, this tea drinker was worried about that part upon reading the ingredients)
The black base is a little soft, but has that certain mallow note which works well in a chai. I wish the base was a touch stronger.
No matter, this is very much like pumpkin pie filling. Very decadent, making me feel as if I’ve had a dessert when really it was a pinch of sugar and some milk! Hmmmm, you know I think it is closer to pumpkin icecream than pie, atleast in the aftertaste.
And something else, other pumpkin teas I’ve tried had a certain “uncooked” feel to them, and to be honest, that is why I stopped looking for a version I enjoyed. Well, this was in the sampler I got, so I didn’t really look for it… but oh yeah am I ever glad it was in there.
Btw, I tried this with milk, but also greatly enjoyed the sip I took when it was sans dairy.
Sighs Ya know you are in love with a tea when you are pouting because the cup is empty! THAT hasn’t happened to me for ages.
When my buying ban is over, I’ll be getting more of this for sure!!!!

Very pumpkin-y amoma to this tea. There is delicious cream taste mixing with the pumpkin and light spices are delicious together. This is a great fall cuppa. Another sipdown complete…love the new term for finishing a sample!

Next up is a generous sample of this tea from Rachel at iHeartTeas!

Like Butiki’s, this tea doesn’t smell particularly spiced, perhaps because it isn’t. It does smell pleasant though, creamy and sweet and like black tea, but I’m not getting a pumpkin aroma per se.

This tea is definitely more strongly flavoured than the version from Butiki, and is a little bit… sharper, perhaps? In the base tea, at least. Again, no real pumpkin flavour that I’m getting, although there’s definitely creaminess and some sweetness. There’s maybe just a touch of astringency.

Sweetened, I’m still not really getting a pumpkin flavour here. It’s definitely a nice tea, and the black base shines through and is pretty tasty, but there isn’t much in the way of spices or pumpkin flavour, specifically.

Overall: this tea definitely has the best/most flavourful and enjoyable black base of the four I’m comparing, and while it’s a tasty tea, the spice aspect is again lacking.

(Teas under review: Butiki – Pumpkin Creme Brulee; iHeartTeas – Creamy Pumpkin Spice; DAVIDsTEA – Pumpkin Chai; Della Terra Teas – Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie)

Thank you to Rachel for sending me a sampling of this tea to try.

Yummy! I like how this is more creamy than it is pumpkin-y. It’s like a bit of pumpkin pie with a big dollop of whipped cream on top. This is really delicious.

Right off the bat I can smell creamy pumpkin! Thank you Rachel, btw!!! I wasn’t sure if I would like this one but I must say this is special! Just enough pumpkin to have it noticed. It’s very creamy and I can almost pick out a hint of cinnamon. WOW. Very nice surprise! YAY!

I’ve been really sick with a head cold that turned into bronchitis this last 3-4weeks so haven’t been able to taste anything .. Hence I’ve been eagerly waiting to try this sample sent to me by the lovely Rachel Carter herself, and today is the day!

This is my first ‘pumpkin’ tea and I really didn’t know what to expect as the only way I’ve ever eaten pumpkin before was roasted or in soup .. So I made a strong brew and the aroma is sweet & creamy, and I think I even smell some butter & nutmeg in there ?

Oh yum this is really good! I don’t taste ‘spice’ as such, which is good because I wasn’t wanting that .. I’m actually finding it hard to describe .. The flavour has a lot of depth to it, but it’s not ‘overly’ flavoured – it tastes natural, not oily or artificial in any way .. A sweet malty black with some unique pizazz to it, if that makes any sense to anyone other than myself ?!

Another reviewer says it’s “comforting, cozy and well-balanced” and I think that’s spot-on .. Perfect for drinking by the fireside with a cat on ones lap & good book for company – and I don’t even own a cat – I don’t even like cats! But that’s the image this tea conjures up for me lol .. And by ‘drinking’ what I mean to say is a big mug of ‘gulp-worth’ tea :P

I’d probably rate it a little higher than I did if the last couple of mouthfuls weren’t so full of tea leaf dust kwim?! But eh, it happens and I’ll just use a different infuser next time ..

I’ll definitely be ordering some more of this asap!

I got a fantastic box in the mail yesterday from Rachel! it was so hard to decide what to have first, but the I found this one tucked in, and just had to have it.

It’s warm, and just ever so spicy. It’s so creamy, almost like I’ve added creamer to it. The pumpkin is authentic. Delicious!! Thanks, Rachel, for giving me the chance to try this! It’s one of the best pumpkin teas vie ever had!

One last cup of this tea from Rachel. It’s delicious, creamy, spicy, and perfectly pumpkin. Very sad that this is the last bit I’ve got…will have to invest in some more when my cupboard’s a bit smaller.

I really enjoyed this tea. It smelled like a vanilla pumpkin pie I made for Thanksgiving one year. It tastes creamy and spicy and a bit like pumpkin. The only problem was for some reason the bottom of the cup was extremely astringent, just like the last 2 sips. Very weird. Maybe I over-steeped it but the rest of the cup was perfect. I did accidentally for get to set the timer so my timing was more of a guess but there was no it steeped more than 5 and a half minutes. hmmm. Well I have more so I can try again another time because minus that I throughly enjoy this tea.

This is a comfort tea for sure. Great to drink this indoors when it’s cold, rainy, and gray outside. I feel so warm and cozy. The description for this blend is spot-on. I had a sample of pumpkin spice, and I didn’t enjoy it very much. This blend was well balanced.

I’m glad I got another go at this tea from Rachel – iHeartTeas. Thank you for this sample! It is creamy and has that nice hint of pumpkin. This goes well with milk and sugar. I love how this tea isn’t “in your face”, but it is nice and subtle. I can pick up the nuances fairly well too. Great tea!

Dry tea smells of cloves, cardamon, and cream and a little bit like graham crackers. Brewed scent reminds me of starbucks pumpkin scones which I adore, so this is promissing. initial taste of ginger and cloves and something almost floral. the spicing is very pleasant, enough to create a pleasant, warm and comforting flavour but not to create heat. Undertone of vanilla underlying the spice, mixed with a faint sweetness from the pumpkin. The base is pleasant, edging towards a slightly bitter and earthy taste that I enjoy in hot drinks. Aftertaste leads to cooling sensation in my mouth. This is perhaps from the cardamon. A pleasant and soothing cup.
