Crannyberry

Black Tea by Joy's Teaspoon

Dating back to Greek Mythology, the pomegranate has been a symbol for beauty, power and community. Sour cranberries and fruity, sweet raspberries play in perfect harmony with the pomegranate: a dream of scents combined with the noble, tangy aroma of black tea.

Second tea of the morning….

I am realizing that I have a ton of samples to get through, and I am in the mood for adventure. This one is long overdue, but I wanted to give it a fair trial. A big thank you to Uniquity for sending this in our Pre-Canada Postal Strike Swap (seems like forever ago!)

This is good! I do get the perfect hint of cranberry. Somehow the raspberry and pomegranate are more subtle. Not too tart, and not too sweet. It just adds a nice dimension to the tea base which complements the flavor well. I love it when the flavor and the base are so seemlessly paired.

24 oz teapot, 4 teaspoons tea, freshly boiled water, 4 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

Today I am grading research papers and need a little something to get me through what seems like a never ending pile or papers. I reached for Crannyberry after I realized it had been a few weeks since I have sipped this tea. I really like the black tea mixed with traditionally strong berry flavors. The caffeine is a necessary component to grading and the berries keep me calm.

Will write a proper tasting note later. Tried this tonight (first Joy’s Teaspoon tea I tried without having tasted or smelled). It was delicious – the black tea was definitely there, but a background to complement the cranberry, etc. Yum!

Backlog:

Had a pot of this with the beau last night before going out for dinner and a movie. Still really yummy, with a good fruity taste, but the tea flavour in there as well. Not overpowering – A good balance!

Enjoyed a cuppa with my breakfast this morning. I really do enjoy this tea…it’s pretty easy to deal with, nice flavours and not too assertive. The tea is definitely there, but muted by the berry flavours. It is not super sweet as some berry teas can be, so I think maybe the tartness of cranberry rounds it out. That said, if I didn’t know the ingredients, I wouldn’t say it was cranberry, necessarily. Just berry. I guess that’s what happens when you have three delicious fruity flavours! I really enjoy it, nonetheless! : )
