Pu-erh tea itself has en earthy, full bodied taste. Our Joy’s Teaspoon Pu-Erh is of the loose-leaf variety. The leaves have undergone a number of processes that keep it from being classified as a true green tea. Thus, the flavor is also different from a green tea. Our Eternal Sunshine blend has the added bonus of orange peels, raspberries and cornflower to give it a bright, yet smooth, flavor. Great for a Pu-Erh beginner!
I am a pu erh beginner and tried this from the sample. From the first sip I was addicted. I haven’t had pure pu erh so I’m rating this a bit ignorantly. Or naively.
I love the flavors of this one – light and tasty… and it tastes like sunshine! Weird, I know. But if you tasted it you’d know what I mean!
I will try again once I’ve had more pu erh. :)
I am a Pu-erh beginner so this review may seem a little basic to those of you with more refined taste. I love green tea so this seemed like a natural next step in my tea education, it took a few brews but I love it! In a green tea I love the bright almost grassy taste. This tea has orange and raspberry which bring in those bright flavors that I really love. The Pu-erh makes for a good morning tea and balances the bright fruit flavors really well. In fact that is what I love about the Pu-erh, how it can balance or contrast the fruit so well. I also love the name. Today in the Chicago area we are experiencing rain, falling temps and the threat of a wintery mix…if ever there was a time for Eternal Sunshine this is it!
Like a certain Jim Carrey movie (that I’m sure had something to do with the naming scheme) this exceeded my preconceived pu-erh notions. I had no idea how to identify the scent of this – just like Joy’s Schnozberry blend – but the end result in taste was something like chocolate oranges mixed with lemon. I think? I dunno…
Point is, I liked it a lot.

I thought I wrote a note about this one before >_> This is great – you never would think it is a pu-erh. So to anyone drinking this, I wouldn’t say to judge what you think of pu-erh based off of it (like “omg i love pu-erh I’m going to buy 10 oz of blah-and-blah aged pu-erh!!”). Taste an unflavored pu-erh before you make that decision.
I second the other reviewer’s fear of this tea due to smell. I was cleaning in the kitchen while I brewed this tea and had a dirty crock pot that had made pork a few days ago. I thought that was the source of the smell….but no, it was the tea. WTH?
So anyway, I took a deep breath (away from the tea) and took a sip. Phew! It doesn’t taste like it smells! I’m not bowled over by the flavor, it seemed kinda meh to me upon first brew, but it may grow on me (perhaps like a fine mold…).
Not sure on this kind of tea…and I can’t pronounce it anyway.
Let me start by saying – I was terrified to try this tea. I haven’t truly had Pu-erh before (just a blend that contained a tiny bit of it). The smell dry was pretty good. Once I started steeping the smell was scaring me a little. Luckily, my fears were unfounded. The taste is hard to describe. It is lemony and slightly earthy, with the faintest hint of an almost pine-like taste. The texture is a bit thick and syrupy, which I like. I’m not totally sure what I think of this one yet, but I’m pretty sure I like it. Prepared with stevia.
A good beginner tea for this variety. I prefer stronger Pu-Erh teas personally, but this would be a good introduction. It was good for a second steeping, and I probably could have done a third.
