Sweet Orange Cream

Fruit Herbal Blend by Kally Tea

A blend of herbs and fruit that imparts a wonderfully fresh citrus character balanced by soft creamy notes of vanilla. The cup is truly like no other, and evokes a warm summer afternoon in an orange grove coupled with the mysterious aura of Madagascar. The addition of the exotic vanilla imparts a creamy taste onto the fresh and clean experience of the orange. A truly comforting indulgence.

Ingredients: Natural Dried Apple Pieces, Rosehip, Hibiscus, Natural Dried Orange Pieces, Sunflower Petals, Red Thistle, Natural Flavors.

I like it! yum.
For a juice tea, this is alot better than I expected.(even though I was very curious and hopeful!)
Now, on the first part of the sip, it’s all sour hibiscus and a hint of vanilla. Tart is not so nice! but then it changes from hibiscus to orange in the sourness followed by a creamy smooth finish. I wish the cream part was more dominant.
You know, I think this would do really well in cooking. Scones, reduction sauces, glazes… yep, I do believe I have some experimenting to do!

Eh….. Sil & Indigobloom, both of you clearly like this more than me. A 3-minute infusion, and I’m getting HIBISCUS. And a bit of orange. Some hibiscus. Maybe cream, if I think about it. HIBISCUS.

Yeeaaaaaah. I definitely get where Raritea is coming from on it tasting like Rockets though, because I just caught that exact flavour. Tart citrus.

So anyways, I don’t really like this tea. Too freakin’ much hibiscus. And hibiscus, to me, tends to smell and taste a bit like… barf. Maybe if I picked it all out, I would like it. Sil – would you like the rest of this back for iced tea in the summer??

mmmmmm i really like this one. It’s sweet and tangy and vanilla and orange and wheeeee! Hold on there lil’ lady. Yeah that’s right. it’s work from home day and i’m in a giddy (up) mood! lol alrighty then…now that i got that out of my system….for a herbal blend this is pretty darn rootin’ tootin’ tasty! and no, no i haven’t been watching toy story 2. anyway, i digress. I do love me some orange and cream. I’m looking forward to trying this as a cold brew in the summer :)

mmmm made some of this as a cold brew on the weekend and just getting around to trying it. As expected i love this way more cold! I will likely finish up the rest of my small amount of this tonight to have tomorrow after work. Even my other half was onside with this as a cold brew, so if there’s a kally tea order in future it will include this one :) tangy, tart and sweet all in one :) (though less orangey this time around to be fair)

1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml of water

On the sip, hibiscus is not overpowering. I’m not detecting a lot of orange flavour on the sip- it is more present in the aftertaste. I’m getting a flavour that reminds me of the hard extruded candy “Rockets”. I am detecting rose taste in the background. The flavour doesn’t seem to have a focus. I am tasting everything separately. Smooth pleasing tartness.

There is something very comforting about this blend- it reminds of of the bagged herbal tisanes (Celestial Seasonings) I would have as a child.

Thank you to Indigobloom and Sil for this sample!

With a lower infusion time the creaminess is allowed to come out more. The tartness from the hibiscus is a little bit better blended.

Thanks Sil for this sample.

On first smell it is very delicious orange creamsicle smelling, then BAM – Hibiscus! I figured I had to give it a try anyway, sometimes hibiscus can be deceiving.

I am unsure of the smell of this tea. I can’t quite put my finger on what it smells like. Maybe creamy hibiscus.

I am also having a hard time describing the taste of the tea. I am getting the Rockets taste, like Raritea. There is creamy vanilla, citrus, hibiscus, slightly floral, but not necessarily rose. There is a sweetenss to it but it is also tart. Knowing the name of this tea I can certainly understand why it is called sweet orange cream. But if I had this tea in a blind taste test without knowing the name, I am not sure I would come up with sweet orange.

Overall is a good tea, but it feels a bit all over the place. I have some left and will try a cold brew to see how that tastes.

I thought that I had to try this one again. I steeped it for only 3 minutes this time and added some rock sugar. This made it much less hibiscus. It is definitely a sweet, fruity tea, slightly creamy, but I would not say it was orange. I still get the rockets candy flavour. Overall the tea seems really weak becuase I steeped for less time. But it is better than when I steeped for longer.
