I’m drinking this one as a latte today – clearly that’s what I’m about this morning! I actually started my sample tin yesterday, when I was out of the office running an event. I prepared that just like I would any black tea – 1 tsp of leaf in boiling water for 4 minutes, finished off with a splash of milk. I enjoyed it – it has a pleasant spiciness that really helped to warm me up on a chilly morning. I really, really enjoy chai as a latte, though. It’s probably one of my favourite things in the world, if I’m honest. For this cup, I used 2 tsp of leaf in half a cup of boiling water, topped up with hot milk. It’s sufficiently spicy that the milk doesn’t drown it, and I can easily pick out clove, cardamon, ginger and cinnamon. The black tea base is smooth and inconspicuous, which is nice in this case because it really lets the spices shine.

I find this to be a fairly mild chai. It doesn’t have anything to give it any real heat – no pepper, chili, etc. I don’t always want that in a chai, but it adds an extra dimension. This one is moderately spicy, not too in-your-face, and the milk gentles it still further. It’s a comforting, warm hug of a cup. Just what I need right now, basically. I’m happy with this one!

Received a gift pack that included a small 25g tin of this.

Has a very fragrant aroma of rich mixed spice, and brews into a pleasant golden sheen. Drank the first cup with half a sugar, as I drink most teas, but the added spices and flavour meant I easy drank it neat with no complaints.

A complete tea novice – I received a few samples for Christmas so just beginning my discovery journey.
I’m steeping my tea in a Bodum Yo-Yo infuser cup. Water today is from the hot water boiler in my office with a splash of cold, so temperature is approximate.
I have a sweet tooth (take 2 sugars in breakfast tea) but felt no need to sweeten this tea.
This tea was flavoursome without being overpowering.

I tried this tea out for the first time about 20 minutes ago, but it took the second cup for me to actually sit down and write a review.
The first time it wasn’t strong enough because Im used to using very little amounts of the Kusmi black teas, since they inflate in warm water. I also just left the bag in for 4 minutes after looking it up online. Then I added rice milk (I like the slight sweetness it adds, and unlike soy-milk it doesn’t really have that distinguished a taste), and 1 teaspoon of Xylitol (40% less calories than sugar, the exact same taste, not damaging to your teeth, doesn’t spike your insulin levels). It wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t impressed either.

This time I let it sit for 10 minutes and added the same amount of rice milk & sugar and it turned out perfect. I have never had a nicer tasting chai tea latte in my home.
Since this one is rather mild, but has the perfect composition of the different flavors, where none is too overtaking, I recommend letting the tea bag in for at least 10 minutes.

I highly recommend this tea to anybody who likes the Chai Latte they sell at “Cappuccino” .

This is a nice, light chai. Very ginger heavy with a hint of anise that isn’t strictly unpleasant. Cinnamon and other spice notes in the background. Overall, very similar to some of Kusmi’s other teas but that’s not a bad thing.

Really good!

The cardamom taste is quite prominent so it’s not the kind of tea that I would drink very often (my 100g is taking me ages to finish) but, still, when I drink it, I really enjoy it.

Bag: The muslin(cotton weave) tea bags are packaged in individual plastic foil backed bags. On the label they have the brew time and temperature in Celsius.
Tea: Brewed at about 200F for 4 minutes the tea is a dark orange maple color. Aroma was strong with the scent of anise and cinnamon. Flavor was distinct with the taste of licorice(Anise) and cinnamon(Cardamom). Astringency was light.
Notes: This tea was from the Kusmi Tea Essentials pack of 24 teas, and each tea bag was about $0.94usd. I was not sure what to expect from a tea called Kashmir Tchai, maybe something more spicy. Anise isn’t my favorite spice but I can imagine drinking this in the winter with a teaspoon of sugar. Its very smooth and a pleasure to drink but is not distinctive in flavor. Label reads Traditional Blend of Teas and Spices. That being said I can taste the Anise, Mate, and Green Cardamom as well as I can see 1cm long Black tea leaves in the bag.

This review is for the bagged version of the this tea. When I bought this I was beginning my tea appreciation and I was on a quest for a good chai. I bought this because there’s a Kusmi retail outlet near my office and I wanted to give them a try. This chai is a lot milder than the spicy chais I’m used to. In fact it doesn’t really taste like chai to me at all. There are hints of the flavors and spices but they don’t come through very well. Add milk and the flavors really almost disappear. My IBS doesn’t allow me to drink chais very often so when I do, I like one that’s bolder. I will say that this chai doesn’t cause a flare up so it has that going for it.

I purchased this in a stash sale, although I’m unsure whose at this point. Oops! I realized recently that I tend to never reach for my chais for some reason, so I’ve decided to make it a point to drink them more. The fact that this one is from Kusmi makes me have high hopes for it. The base is very small black tea leaves, and there are a lot of dried spices mixed in. I can identify cloves and pieces of ginger, along with cardamom and cinnamon bark. There are some dried green leaves that look like broken-up bay leaves to me, which seems odd. The dry scent kind of reminds me of Italian sausage, heh. In a good way though! I did a five-minute steep in about 6 ounces of water and then added sugar and vanilla soy milk.

This is actually a rather delicious chai! I can definitely taste the ginger, but it doesn’t bother me here. The clove, cinnamon, and cardamom are lovely, and I think I can taste a little bit of anise as well. The spices are actually strong enough, which is very good – weakly spiced chai is one of my pet peeves. I would definitely love to try this one with the traditional stovetop chai method, I bet it would be amazing! :)

My guess is that the tea contains fennel seeds, since you mention the smell is like Italian sausage and the flavour is like anise. Do you see any small seeds in the dry leaf that look like this? http://scottandkat.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Fennel-Seeds.jpg
