Sweet Caramel O Mine

Black Tea by Liber Teas

This Caramel Tea is the ultimate treat! A caramel tea that is rich, creamy and decadent – thats what my Sweet Caramel oMine is all about!

This is a unique Caramel tea blend from my own recipe, using high grown Ceylon teas as well as Assams (to highlight the malty tones of the caramel), and organic caramel flavors. Youll even find a couple of tiny caramel nuggets amongst the tea leaves!

The flavor is bold, slightly sweet (but youll want to add a touch of sweetener to your tea to bring out the more subtle notes of the caramel flavors), and buttery rich, just like a favorite homemade caramel candy — but with far fewer calories and no fat!

Just got my Box O’ Goodies from LiberTeas – Thanks so much!

So I started on this tea right away…mostly because I love caramel tea and well Gun’s and Roses. LOL. Boy, was this an awesome tea. I will have to get my very own tin and it shall be my “precious.” This tea has a deep, rich, velvety caramel flavor. I must admit I feel naughty drinking this, it tastes sinful. Nevertheless, it is wonderful and a must try. Thank you for sending me this tea.

Boy do I LOVE this stuff. It’s even better with an ice cream sandwich. Yummy!

I just love this one it hits the sweet spot. I am so happy I decided to purchase this one. :-)

Mmmm this is wonderful, really hits the spot. I was craving a sweet dessert tea this afternoon and this was waiting for me in my mailbox. Thanks to the SororiTea Sisteres blog contest I get to enjoy this richly caramel tea along with a tin of Liberteas British Breakfast tea. Much thanks for the tea!

Ahhh…I needed this sweet rich black tea this morning. I really do enjoy caramel teas. This tin is slowly dwindling away :(

I think I let this steep too long this morning, or used too much leaf. It was pretty astringent and tannin tasting. I could still smell the sweet sticky caramel, but the aftertaste was all tannins. I’ll have to watch it more closely, or throw in a spoonful of honey next time!

I didn’t find out about LiberTEAS’s company until after it had closed…yes, once I read about her blends, I had an incredible sad. LiberTEAS, bless her, kindly sent me some of her teas in a swap, and I’ve been fortunate enough to get a very small supply of her Breakfast Blend on hand (it’s the best ever, and yes, I’m hoarding the stuff).

In my awesome swap box from Meghann, she had nearly a full tin of this tucked into it, as well as my beloved Breakfast Blend!! Yes, I squealed like a little girl. Actually, probably more like a tweenage girl watching Twilight, squealing when Edward appears on the screen. You would have laughed.

I’m slightly worried about this, not going to lie. I’ve not been having the best of luck with caramel teas here lately, but I know if anyone can do a tea right, it’s LiberTEAS. After all, her Masterpiece Chai is, well, a masterpiece.

She’s not let me down. It’s bold, in your face, and awesome. Creamy and caramel, but without that “burnt” taste that I’ve been finding in other caramel blends. I’m seriously considering making a T-sac full of this, taking it to Cuppa, and begging Lisa to make me a latte out of it with caramel syrup (I’m crap at making lattes at home). This is delicious. Debating adding a smidge of sugar to this, but I honestly don’t think it needs it. Nom, nom, nom!!

It just seemed right!!!

I had to listen to this song while consuming…it should be part of the experience!

This smells sweet and dark and caramel-E. It sort of tastes like a Caramel Flavored Coffee or Toffee or would make a great NO…scratch that…and AWESOME Coffee Alternative!

This is a loud but good flavored tea! It certainly has the Axl “Scream” down pat. And at the end of the sip…the Axl “Dance”. It’s a smooth aftertaste which is wonderful!

I figure the PERFECT Infusion consists of you pulling the loose leaf from the water right at the beginning of Slash’s JAM OUT Session beginning around 2:53.

YUM

Thank you SO MUCH LiberTEAs for sending me some!!!

Upping again! YUM!!!! YUM!!!!
SIPDOWN tho…boo hiss…it will be missed!

I had a HUGE CHUNK of Caramel in mine this time…YUM! I may try a 2nd infusion just for kicks.

This is wonderful!
Creamy!

NOTE TO SELF…this goes awesomely with my MIL’s CAKE!

There is NOTHING WRONG with doing a 2nd infusion with this one!!! WOW! YUM!

First, I better not get too attached …Liberteas sent me a sample and I am thinking this is a limited edition since she is closing up the business.

This tea has a strong, natural caramel flavor. And I am going to miss this tea. It tasted like an old-fashioned Brach’s caramel square in the plastic wrapper….

I haven’t had too many caramel teas- just a sample from Upton’s (which I remember enjoying but can’t recall the taste) and a tin of Adagio’s caramel creme (which tasted artificial to me)…Oh well, the search continues…I have high hopes for Kusmi’s caramel tea…

I have gone smoothie crazy! I got a new blender yesterday and if I can blend it, I will.

Soo, why not a frozen tea smoothie? As this one has a strong caramel flavor, I figured it could hold up to the addition of ice and milk. Now this is a true desert tea…

Still love this blend and it is one of my fave dessert teas- the assam and caramel- perfect!!!

I’m surprised at how strong this tea is. It’s not weak and watery like many flavored teas tend to be. I’m guessing part of the magic of this tea is due to the assam in the blend. This is a proper black tea that can stand up to lots of milk and sweetener. The result is an awesome, almost coffee-ish drink with great caramel flavor. I’m sad that I can’t get more of this, because I would drink it regularly. Thank you Rachel for the sample! Prepared with almond milk and stevia.

Yum! I love my caramel tea!

The flavor is rich and smooth, but with a bold base – a touch of malt that really goes nicely with the caramel notes. Not super sweet – even though I named it as such… I was thinking of Axl Rose at the time! It has a nice sweetness though but one that I like to accent with a bit of raw sugar to bring out some of the richer notes of the caramel.

YUM!

Testing out my latest batch (and probably my last batch). Yummy – if I do say so myself. The caramel is sweet but not too sweet – the Assam malty.

I’ve really missed this blend!

Backlog: this morning, instead of starting my morning with my breakfast blend, I decided to go a bit decadent and start with some dessert! Smooth, creamy, delicious! I love it!

I got this tea in a trade with Silvermage2000 along with a bunch of others – all I can say is that she has good taste in tea. :)

The smell of this tea is partially toasty and partially burnt caramel – but a nice burnt, not the yucky, charcoal burnt. The flavour isn’t overly sweet (unlike the title, lol) but it’s more like a nice, light, malty assam with a faint hint of sugar. It’s a pleasent tea to drink, but not anything that I found overly special.

Woah! I added a bit of honey to this tea and wow is it caramely. I guess that’s the secret to bringing out its flavour and sweetness. Yum.

My opinion on this tea is pretty much the same. I drank it with milk this time and it did bring out the caramel a tad, but it also brought out the toasty flavour aswell and that seems to dominate the tea. Still, I like that they didn’t go overboard with the caramel to compensate, it tastes very natural this way.

Tasting a sample cup of this thanks to LiberTeas, who sent it to me. I love anything caramel, so I was pretty excited when I saw that she had included it.

The first thing I noticed about the scent and taste of this tea is the smell of real caramel. It reminds me of how my mother makes it at home, on the stovetop. It has that sort of… not smoky exactly, but heat-involved taste, if that makes any sense. This tea is delightfully smooth and creamy without actually adding cream. I’m still finishing my first (and only) cup, and I’m a fan. Mmmm.

I think I’m going to have “Sweet Child Of Mine” stuck in my head all day now…

Yessss, I got a little more of this tea from RachanaC (A.K.A. Rachel). (So glad she was willing to give a bit of it up. I don’t know if I would have, myself, haha.) I get the urge to cling to the baggie forever, as this tea is extinct. Extinct and wonderful.

But no, it shouldn’t be that way. Someone here once said “tea is meant to be enjoyed and not hoarded”, and that stuck with me. So this is my first cup of the day. I’ve already reviewed this tea once and my love for it has not changed. I still love the realistic caramel taste, like it’s been toasted. It manages to be toasty without getting nutty, if you know what I mean. I’m going to be drinking this very, very slowly…

Next time, it gets a longer steep time.

I live!

Sorry, I do this. I disappear for months at a time, then return. And hopefully I will be returning to Steepster with full force. Mainly, I’ve been gone since I haven’t purchased many new teas. I’ve been working on my collection, trying to get through what I have before I move along. Also, the heat here in Atlanta has been devastating, which leads me away from tea a bit, except for in iced form. Which I haven’t had time to brew in batches.

Anyway, this tea was delicious as always. I’m beginning to run low, but I am prepared to let it go. I brewed it double-strong after four days of partying hard at Dragon*Con, and flopped down onto the couch with the boys for the episode of Doctor Who I missed. It was slightly bitter, but I love bitterness, especially paired with creaminess. It was thoroughly enjoyed and will be again.

Only have a few cups of this left in the bottom of the purple tin. Maybe one big, strong cup for work. Sad. I’m going to have to go on a hunt for a new caramel tea…

Anyway, I made a strong cup of this for the to-go cup today. Sweetened it a little and accompanied it with a harsh playlist and my morning commute to midtown. I still have so much tea to get through…

EDIT: Made the rest the next morning. Turns out I didn’t have quite enough, so I had to mix in some plain assam I have lying around. The caramel flavor was still quite strong and lovely. Sad to see it go.

I got the last tin ever from LiberTEAS in the mail yesterday! Eeee, thank you!!

Another last affair with this tea before it becomes extinct. I made two almost-too-strong mugs of it last night; one for me and one for my brother. We sweetened it with plain sugar, but now I’m considering what honey would be like mixed in. Hmmm.

And then this morning, I took a cup of it with me to work. Felt nice sipping it in my car, surrounded by skyscrapers on a cold, damp day.

Had another cup iced first thing this morning. I am really enjoying it as a cold tea. It’s been my staple for the past week or so, whenever I wanted something to drink, that’s what I’d make. I just haven’t logged it because that could get seriously redundant. So this note should count for at least 4 or 5 glasses.

I have since perfected my single-glass sweet tea ratio of two and a half teaspoons black tea, two teaspoons of sugar, about half a glass of ice, steeped for five and a half minutes. Comes out perfect every time.

After drinking until 2 with the Decatur kids at Republic, I needed something both refreshing and caffeinated to go with me on the ride to midtown the next morning. This was perfect. It was like an iced coffee without the sharp aftertaste or the wicked case of the shakes.

I’ve been on an iced tea kick since the weather has turned warm, and last night I got curious about this. I’ve never had caramel tea cold before, so I went for it. It’s actually a lot more refreshing than I expected! It’s delicious iced! The temperature reduces the caramel flavor a little, but in a pleasant way that keeps it from being too much like an icy dessert. Will definitely do this again.

Also, I should note that I made a tall mug of this for work the other day as well. I used one teaspoon Sweet Caramel O’ Mine, and one teaspoon of India Vanilla Tea from the farmer’s market. The vanilla was still a bit overwhelming, so next time I’ll use less of it. I’ve also decided that caramel + vanilla is one of the better things in life.

Last cup of my sample. I let it steep a little longer to bring out the caramel flavor, which worked. I’m savoring it now before I have to leave for work. I see that LiberTeas has a few more tins of it up for sale, and while I would love to buy one, I’m going to a convention next week and need every dollar I can get. If it’s still there when I get back, though, it will be mine!

This I’s one strong black tea with a medium carmel. I steeped a couple of minutes or so. This tastes like a good black tea with a nice not oversweet carmel.

This tea is like a delicious treat! Really unexpected in a tea IMO.
