White Tea with Blueberry & Pomegranate

Green White Blend by Lipton

First discovered in the Fujian province of China, Lipton® White Tea is plucked by hand from the tips of tea buds before the tea leaf blossoms, to preserve the natural goodness of the whole leaf. Our tea is then packaged in our unique pyramid-shaped bags that allow the long-leaf to flow freely with real blueberries for a light flavor and authentic tea infusion. Savor the flavor of 100 years’ tea expertise in every cup.

It’s at work and it’s free so I thought I’d at least try it…

This tea came in one of those pyramid infusers but it doesn’t look like they’re the biodegradable kind (boo, hiss). I checked the list of ingredients for anything weird… no hibiscus, yay! But why do they need to put modified corn starch in here? that’s just weird.

As for the tea itself, it isn’t as dreadful as I was thinking it might be. It’s a blend of white and green teas with blueberry and pomegranate pieces. The pom is adding a bit of tartness but I’m glad it isn’t too tart. I’m getting more pom than blueberry and the tea flavor itself is somewhat obscured.

I don’t think I will run out and buy any for my personal collection but it certainly seems as good as anything I’ve had from Republic of Tea, for example.

I thought I would like it better after I poured it over ice but I think I preferred it hot.

Meh. So this is ok…but I wouldn’t call it white tea or really blueberry…it just kind of is. If someone dropped this in front of me I would drink it…but I wouldn’t bask in the glory of whatever this tea is. I’m sure ther are better “in a pinch” bagged teas out there.

For a simple tea to drink while at work that doesn’t require much attention, and doesn’t cost very much, this is a fine tea. It doesn’t come in biodegradable bags (which is understandable, as it is a commercial tea,) but at least it isn’t obviously made with fannings.

I’m so crazy about Lipton’s Pyramid Tea Bags. I love that the tea leaves have room to spread in the bag to release their flavor; I love that I can see exactly what the leaves look like; I love that the box always smells amazing when I open it. So yeah, big fan here.

Lipton’s Blueberry & Pomegranate White Tea is quite a treat. As someone who has never eaten pomegranate by itself, per se, I can’t really drink this and say, “Oooh, this tastes just like the last pomegranate I ate!” However, I love blueberries and I can definitely identify that taste in this tea. The tea bags actually contain real pieces of blueberries, which ends up making this tea taste and smell like some sort of decadent dessert or treat as opposed to just white tea.

The tea’s ingredients list dried apples, which I had identified by smell before reading the list. It also contains blackberry and raspberry fruit pieces, green tea, cinnamon bark, and orange peel, among other natural things. Seriously, though, sounds like an ingredient list for a pastry or yummy treat.

This tea packs 65mg per serving of body-protecting flavonoid antioxidants, 20mg of potassium, and 25mg of caffeine per serving. Just pour boiling water over a tea bag and let steep for around 2-4 minutes (your preference), and enjoy!

For my first white tea I was not impressed at all

I have tried this tea brewed hot and found it meh-blah. However, I have been trying to get rid of my Lipton tea pyramid collection so I have started to use them to make sun-tea; as I am not about to use my good loose to for it.

I found this tea to taste actually pretty good. It is one of my fave’s so far for making sun tea from the pyramid collection. It has a decent berry flavor and with an odd warm cinnamon aftertaste.

Specifics

Water Temp: As hot as hot summer days
Number of bags: 6
Water Amount: 64oz
Brew time: about 3 hours
Sweetener: 2 Large spoonfuls of light agave.

Other than for making sun tea, i would not recommend this to a friend.

..This is a white tea? I examined the tea bag before I steeped and saw a whole lotta stuff in it, but nothing that struck me as looking like anything but Japanese green (it looks like cut grass). So maybe there was some sort of white tea ritual where they have workers wave small bushels of white over the tea as it’s being mixed? Sort of like a sage burning ceremony?

This tea might as well be herbal! Ugh! I’d rate it lower, but the taste is actually pretty good so I’ll cut it a little slack (but I’m not happy).

The tea tea would make excellent potpourri though, it smells very nice.

I just got a box of this ar Target for 2 dollars…I will say I am pleasantly surprised. My first experience with lipton’s white mango peach was not great. I like the hints of blueberry this tea has…reminds me of some of the blueberry pale ales that I have sampled. I love darker stout and porter beers and like the change of a fruited pale every now and again Something different…something economical…and tasty.

Switching it up this afternoon, and this hit the spot. Call me crazy but everytime I drink this tea I feel like I’m drinking a fruited pale ale. Except I’m ok to drive. The body of this tea reminds me of an ale and that’s not a bad thing. I’m not usually a fan of white teas but this is decent.

second steep not bad…for some reason it has the same aroma as the bavarian berry on it’s second steep…very nice!

i keep trying to like this tea… blueberries and pomegranates sound appealing, but it just doesn’t come together for me.

This tea is amazing! It smells wonderful dry, and I love its light, fruity flavor (I drank it hot, but I’m sure it’s fabulous iced, too)! It is even beautiful to watch as it steeps because the leaves open up in the water. This is a perfect afternoon tea, because it is not too highly caffeinated, but it will still give you a nice boost of energy. I know that the bags aren’t recyclable or particularly eco-friendly, but I think the mesh does a nice job of eliminating the papery taste that some bagged teas can have. All in all, a satisfying experience. Lipton has done well!

Just a little bitter without sweetener, but sometimes I’m in the mood for that. If not, I put a teaspoon of honey in.

wish i had a punny tea name

This tea is stronger than the Island Mango; pretty good, generally fruity. I don’t recall truly tasting the blueberry, but it’s deliciously fragrant fo sho! So yeah a decent tea but not something to write home about.

The actual tea leaves taste great to me. Did I say great? I meant good. For Lipton. The blueberries are wonderful though. I would like a blueberry Lipton bagel in the near future. I’m not a huge fan of pomegranate, so I’m not going to comment too much on that. There is TONS of licorice in this blend… and if you brew it wrong so help you god you’ll be sipping on black jellybellies. This tea is okay, but I probably won’t buy this specific one very much if ever… though I’ve had worse.

Protip: Brew it a bit hot and it’ll mute those licorice notes.

This isn’t great, but not horrible either. The dry tea smells very strong of blueberry which lasts throughout the steeping process. I don’t seem to care much for white teas, but this one seems to have more flavor that others I’ve tried. The tea would probably be good with sugar, which might help bring out the pomegranate that is lost in this tea. I don’t see myself buying this.

This is a nice light “mostly” white tea. The blueberry taste comes through, but not too strong. Some blueberry teas that I have tasted seem fake, but this one tastes more true to the essence of blueberry…if that makes any sense…the blueberries are perfectly balanced with the white and green tea base. I do not taste any other flavors, just white tea and blueberries. Lipton has done a nice job with their pyramid tea bags. Will definitely be purchasing again.

It’s too fruity for my liking. The flavorings mask the white. I’ve come to realize that pomegranate is only delicious iff my hands are stained and I have a pile of pith in front of me =)

For a bagged tea, this is very good. Light white tea taste with an excellent fruit flavor. Slightly bitter. I drink this when I’m in the mood for something really sweet and fruity.
