Ingredients: Castleton Darjeeling tea, raspberry, champagne and cream flavorings, dried raspberry pieces, and cornflower petals.

Purchased for $6.50 per 2 ounces package at Lisa’s Tea Treasures in San Jose, CA. Royal Wedding tea is a flavored Darjeeling, but like most flavored teas, the taste of the tea is mostly obscured by the other ingredients in the blend, in this case the raspberry and the vanilla. It is a pleasing tea blend, however (for those who like flavored tea), smooth and naturally sweet-tasting without sugar. The shop owner said it was the second most popular tea in the tea room, after their floral Earl Grey blend. I find that it makes a refreshing iced tea.

The dry leaf looks like your standard whole-leaf black tea, with few visible golden tips. The leaf size seemed a little small for an FOP. The flavor of the tea itself (aside from the flavorings) was not assertive. I couldn’t detect much flavor or any astringency from the Darjeeling. The tea is packaged in clear plastic pouches that are not re-sealable and not airtight.
