Momo Oolong Super Grade

Fruit Oolong Blend by Lupicia

Savor the succulent flavor and aroma of Japanese white peach in this Taiwanese pouchong blend accented with pink rose petals.

The noble sweetness of Japanese white peach, with its fresh and subtle flavour, is justly matched with a superior grade Taiwanese Oolong. An aromatic and refreshing blend that is extremely soft on the palate.

Thanks Azzrian!

I just may be the last Steepster to try this (ok…maybe not…but there have been TONS of others!)

This is wonderful! It really hits the spot today! It’s gently floral and juicy-sweet peach at just the right intensity. And the Oolong – hands-down – ONE WORDAWESOME!

Just juicy as juicy can get! The aroma is stronger than the flavor but you know what … I find that of most all teas.
Its a fresh ripe juicy peach off the tree before it is processed into a million sugary corn syrup added items for the store shelves!
The rose is just a very gentle backdrop.
Just amazing. Love it!
I am going to try this chilled and maybe also with sugar both in the hot and cold brew later because yeah well I do happen to also like those sugary items on the store shelves.
:P

The only hot tea I have brewed up currently, another sample from Azzrian! Thrilled that it’s another pouchong blend, as I loved Mandarin Silk from the Persimmon Tree.

Aroma is definitely deliciously green oolong with a hint of fruitiness. Oh man… yeah, I think we have another winner. Sweet, real peach initially, which fades into a general fruitiness as the oolong flavour slides in. Delicious. The base is fabulous here, and the flavouring is amazing. I can see myself drinking this on those days where an oolong craving strikes, but I want something a little sweeter. This cup is disappearing VERY quickly. It could stand to be a touch stronger, but I might be thinking that because I just had a couple strong iced teas. Also, absolutely zero astringency/bitterness.

Thank you so much Azzrian! Although I get some misses from you, I’ve also had some absolutely HUGE hits, especially recently! It’s wonderful (yet oh so terrible wallet-wise).

ETA: Less flavour but still delicious second infusion. Drank a bit more after sampling some other teas, and wow is the oolong flavour powerful… and delicious!! Love it.

ETA again: Third infusion too light to bother, most days.

Sipdown!

I wish we’d acquired more of this via Lupicia’s Happy Bags, but sadly not. And now I’m finishing off the last of this sample from Azzrian.

Delicious pouchong and peach, this is really a lovely blend. Easy to sip away the whole cup quite quickly (as I have done!)

Someday, I’ll hopefully make a Lupicia order and get some more of this, but for now it will just be a memory. Sigh.

Thank you Azzrian for this yummy tea! I brought this to share with my sister while cake baking for mother’s day. It’s very peachy! Real sweet peach! It’s reminiscent of gummies. I think a lot of Lupicia teas taste like gummies. Soooo good!

The oolong also makes a lovely fresh appearance making the peach not too candy-like. Oh, Lupicia. Why can’t you be on the east coast? whhyyyy???

The scent of this tea is incredible! It’s all about peaches… still fuzzy, very ripe, juicy (maybe sweetened) peaches! P-E-A-C-H-E-S. Really, I feel like I’m sitting in a nice bin of plump peachy fruit! There is a bit of green oolong in the background, but that doesn’t overshadow the fruit at all.

The taste is a tiny bit disappointing. It’s not that the peach isn’t there, it’s just that the scent had me expecting that I would be bombarded with it. The peach is more in the background and the oolong pulls to the front. The oolong is rich and full – tasty on its own. I find that most of the peach is at the end of the sip. The finish is juicy, sweet and tart just like the real fruit!

What I also enjoy about this tea is that it seems to be natural and clean. It doesn’t seem artificial in the slightest. Thank you Will Work For Tea for giving me the opportunity to enjoy this tea! I’ll have to place an order with Lupicia soon!

Welp, officially I have had enough peach tea for now.

I was really excited for this one. It smells great, it looks pretty.

I don’t really care for this…I far preferred black tea Momo. It started out great, but as it cooled it just became far too subtle. I mean like barely that cool, it started to just taste like pouchong. Nothing wrong with pouchong but it’s not juicy peaches.

I have higher hopes for Momoko being more to my liking.

This is definitely one of Lupicia’s best… and while I like so many of their teas that it would be difficult for me to choose a favorite, this would definitely make the top 5 list!

Deliciously peachy, rich and smooth flavor. Very nectar-like. The Oolong has a creamy back note with a hint of vegetation. Sweet and absolutely lovely!

This was another sample I ordered from Rachel.

Made this hot, had a few sips, and iced the rest.
This is a very juicy tea, and the aroma of the leaves, both before and after steeping, is really pleasant and light. It is most definitely peachy – but it also has some floral notes from the rose petals that are blended in. Normally I really don’t like floral teas – I find that they remind me of drinking perfume. This is a very happy exception.

The few hot sips that I had were extremely juicy and flavorful, and since I used my whole sample on them, I decided just to take my chances and throw it into the fridge. I knew that from the reviews here and my own tasting (and the fact it got up to 90 today), I would love this iced.

It is so perfect for summer iced tea that I promptly went on Lupicia’s website and am in the midst of placing an order. Summers are long and hot here, people, and this tea is going to be one of the ways I make due.

Tea of the afternoon here. I can’t believe I’ve never logged this one before because it seems like I’ve had it a bunch of times already before I bought this latest batch.

I am really liking this! It’s buttery, slightly vegetal with a light peach and floral quality. Sometimes Lupicia teas can be a bit artificial in flavor but this particular blend is quite lovely. I’d recommend checking it out if you’re into flavored oolongs…. I steeped mine for around 4 minutes only because I forgot about it. :)

This is such a delicious oolong. I had the first peach of the season this morning that I got from Whole Foods last night. Delightful. I love all the summer fruit.

Yesterday before I left the office I cold brewed a teabag of this and am drinking it with my lunch as an iced tea. It’s pretty good this way. Only a few more days of our current heatwave before it’s back to rain and overcast weather, I’m enjoying the sun!

Tea of the afternoon here…
I drink this all of the time and it is SUPER GOOD!

Life is going great!

One last cup of tea before going to the SF Zen Center tonight. This is pretty good with soymilk, I feel like I’m drinking a latte. I might want to get a milk frothing device one of these days…

Super juicy fresh peach flavor. Just delightful, light, and refreshing. It doesn’t taste artificial or sticky sweet or syrupy if you know what I mean. I really liked this. I am glad I went outside my comfort zone and got this. I will buy it again and maybe even it chill it.

So deliciously sweet and juicy. Love it!

I made this cold brewed today it is surprisingly more vegatal than expected. Which for me is just fine. The peach flavor is explosive and so bright and vibrant. Not a drop of artificial syrup like flavor. I am actually find this a bit bolder than when hot. An interestingly wonderful surprise. Bumped up because of its ability to rock both hot and cold.

WOW! This tea is one of a kind IMO. I bought the limited edition tin because I thought it was cute (I have a thing for cute tins LOL) and just hoped that I would like it enough to make all of the tea that came with it, since I normally will buy a sample or a small sized pouch first to “taste test it”. Anyways, I am so glad I got this in the larger amount! I opened it up and smelled it and it smelled like a fresh, juicy peach and a bit of sugared rose petals to just give it that extra exquisiteness. This is the perfect balance of flavors, the oolong tastes very good and the peach tastes 100% natural and the bit of the sugary rose is subtle and nice compliment to the fruit to give it that extra oomph! This will be one of my “must have this tea on hand at all times”! Also, I had this hot and I can hardly wait to try it iced as I am sure it will be even better! I think I will go ahead and order another pouch of this now to have on hand as back up…I can see myself making pitchers of this iced for summer!

Having this iced on a hot summer day equals YUM!

This is one of those teas that I like and drink frequently, but never get around to talking about. It’s like drinking this relaxes me to the point that I just don’t want to be bothered with forming sentences and figuring out how to write about it.

Momo Oolong Super Grade is a very fresh-off-the-tree sort of peach, light and refreshing. The oolong gives this a slightly floral flavor. It’s just the sort of thing to drink on a dull afternoon; it tastes good whether hot or iced.

Doesn’t work so hot for multiple steeps. The second brew is noticeably weaker than the first, and the third is basically colored water.

Tea bag. Dry, it smells peachy and juicy with a little extra something that is coming from the oolong. Yeah, I know Lupicia says to use boiling water, but I can’t. So I didn’t. Brewed up, the peachy and the floral of the oolong seem more evenly balance with perhaps the floral being a little weightier. Taste-wise, this strikes me more as yellow peach than white. A little bolder in peachy taste. Very yummy peach. Matches well with the floral taste of the oolong to make something that tastes like it came right off the tree in the middle of summer. Mmm.

This tea is pretty AH-mazing. I wasn’t feeling it as much before when I was just drinking it straight- the flavors are intense, fruity, and almost a bit too floral for my taste as a brewed oolong tea. It was not bitter at all. It had promise, but wasn’t quite right. Until today it struck me — iced tea!

What a great way to ring in the first day of July. I brewed it strong and iced it, and it is delicious. I’d highly recommend it. The peach flavors are intense and lend a natural sweetness to the tea without needing extra sugar. The base of vegetal and smooth green oolong balances out the tea. It’s a light and refreshing way to enjoy your summer.

I need a good tea to start my week off – and get ready for a couple days of busting my butt at brazilian jiu jitsu before the school is closed for the holidays. Figure it was time to try this peachy tea from my recent Lupicia order!

DRY LEAF: smells like peach gummies that fell on the grass.
STEEPED: Wow, very fragrant tea! Rosey floral and slightly sweet smell.

TASTE: After I took a sip, I had to stop everything. Slightly naturally sweet white peach upfront, with a delicious floral base and light juicy oolong.

MMMM! Very good! I’m a sucker for good floral and fruity! This is just delicious! I was hoping this would taste more like peachy gummies, but maybe I’d need to sugar this tea – but Momo Super grade is good as is!

I wondering why all of the Lupicia teas I got, they all state boiling water to steep. To make it easy to steep?

I tried this tea at 190, and the oolong base is much nicer here – light, silky and not grassy, with a light peach and rose background. Though, I think I could steep this longer than the 3 minutes I did – I got really impatient for breakfast and tea.

Received this as a gift. I have been spoiled! Smells heavenly, and the taste is just right. I made it strong (1.5 tsp) and it’s wonderful. With the light sweetness of the peach it’s a liquid dessert.

Gaiwan tasting.
First steeping smells incredibly fruity and sweet. A bit like lychee and a bit like ginseng. This by far one of the sweetest teas I have ever had and certainly sweeter even than a ginseng coated oolong I own.
The taste is certainly a surprise and not what I was expecting.
Pretty delicious, seriously, for never having heard of the company.

Yesterday was not a good day.

Today was not much better, but I went straight home, opened my new packet of this tea and sat back to relax and destress.

The fact that the tea is really, really good is helping!

Lately I’ve been drinking this tea using my new Libre tea mug. I just put the leaves in the bottem part, put the lid with the strainer on, and drink, keeping the leaves in the tea. It never seems to get bitter and is surprisingly good this way.

I cold brewed this overnight and drank it out of a thermos at lunch. This tea is great cold brewed!! If you have it, try it cold brewed for the summer. If you don’t have any of this tea, buy it so you can try it cold brewed for the summer. (And yes, I know that it’s not summer. I just wish it was summer vacation so I didn’t have to work!)

I realize this is Lupicia’s number one best selling tea of all time, but I’m just not that impressed.

Those Japanese peaches must be well-loved though because they’re used in at least three teas in my sampler kit, including black, green, and now oolong.

But anyway, the Momo Oolong Super Grade definitely has a strong, sweet scent of peaches. But the scent is much stronger than the flavor. It was misleading. I expected to be hit by a wave of peach flavor from the aroma it gave off while steeping. But I was surprised to learn that wasn’t the case.

However, the peach flavor is strong enough that it kind of masks the flavor of the oolong, which is almost bitter.

I realize that I’m being quite critical of this tea. It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination. It’s just not a favorite of mine. I like the Golden Osmanthus oolong tea better than this one.

Perhaps I’m just missing the bandwagon with this tea, but I suppose I’ve never been a huge peach lover either.

Hmm… I like this but I don’t think it’s as impressive as others have commented. White peach is more present in the aroma than flavour. As for the oolong base, it is smooth and decent but I can’t see how superior it is. Maybe it’s because I tasted too much fine oolong in Taiwan in my recent trip…?
