Well, this one just doesn’t do it for me. The sourness from Hibiscus was so overwhelming that it killed any possible salvation by either Darjeeling or Assam. What was the point, really, to have both these teas in there if all you’re going to taste was Hibiscus. This certainly was one of those cases where the description led the imagination to a different place than reality. At least the color was pretty…
Perhaps I should try adding sweetness and drink this cold? Hm….
Another exclusive Lupicia Hawaii Tea!
This is a blend of assam, darjeeling, hibiscus and orange. Pretty much just tastes like 80% tart hibiscus with a heavy dry brisk of darjeeling and malty aftertaste. Despite the sweetener I added, it’s super dry.
I don’t mind hibiscus (iced and with sweetener, which is what I did for this tea) but the pairing with assam is a bleh choice.

I didn’t read anything about this before tasting it. It had that distinctive hibiscus smell and look. It’s very tart and like hot, unsweetened fruit juice. It was a pretty purpley red color, though. :)

I had the displeasure of drinking a cup of hibiscus juice tea a couple of days ago. :(
I got a cup of black currant at the Four Seasons with tea last month. I assumed from the description that it was a black tea with black currant. It turned out to be black currant tisane with what I am positive was hibiscus. :(

It reminded me of Haw Flakes, these little candies I’d always eat as a child! I just asked my roommate if she knew what it was, but it was a typical ‘asian’ candy that you get to the asian market soooo yeah. She only knows pocky and yanyan ahah BUT HAW FLAKES THOUGH.
But yeah. This tea.

It’s freakin TERRIBLE hot! Like it was just so tart and sour and I tried adding agave and.. no. It was just too much for my mouth.
But then I decided to pour it over ice and HUZZAH! This tea is really good iced. I can definitely taste the black tea base of the assam and darjeeling, but the hibiscus is there as an afterthought, so it’s not too overbearing on the tartness, how it was when it was hot. I may have overdone it on the agave though, so I’ll just remember that for next time :)
