Kai-yo no Mukashi (Depth of the Ocean Vintage). The depth of the ocean is a Zen expression that expresses the need to keep an open mind and to embrace all things with great virtue and humanity. It is said that long ago a student asked his tea master “How shall I drink this very small cup of tea,” which the master responded, “Drink it as you would drink the entire ocean.”
