From Menghai Tea Factory

2012 Menghai Dayi Lao Cha Tou Ripe Brick 250g
Lao Cha Tou is formed during the fermentation process. The leaves under heat and pressure will clump together at the bottom of the pile and form nuggets. Cha Tou are little tea nuggets that are a wonderful byproduct of the fermentation process of Pu-Erh tea.
Lao Cha Tou is the most natural processing for making pu-erh tea. During the oxidation process, tea leaves will attach to one another and form a nugget as the result of heat and high compression. This will make the tea taste smooth and thick with a pleasant mouth feel. This tea can be infused 10 times easily.

Another lovely sample I was given to try. :)
Interesting leaf, that even after numerous steeps over a couple days, still has clumps holding together and looks somewhat like decayed wood. Taste is very mild and creamy smooth though, and not particularly woody at all; perhaps just a bit of earthiness.

You’re welcome.

That pesticide testing is only for yunnan sourcing’s own brand puerh productions (made since fall 2013), not third party brands they sell. Teas that YS tested will list that fact on the tea page at the bottom of the description ( like this: http://yunnansourcing.com/en/2014/3064-2014-yunnan-sourcing-year-of-the-horse-menghai-ripe-pu-erh-tea-cake.html ). And given that Dayi is one of the largest factory producers of plantation grown puerh, it’s pretty likely to have at least a little pesticide residue, though probably not too dangerous levels.
