2009 V93 ripe

Pu-erh Tea by Menghai Tea Factory

This is a classic Ripe tea blend, called “V93”, it was most recently released in 2006 and quickly became one the most expensive ripe teas on the market. To this day the 2005 and 2006 V93 Ripe productions have commanded very high prices due to the fact that this is one of the most sought after Ripe teas for everyday drinking. It is smooth and full in the mouth. It is fermented just enough to break down the bitterness of raw pu-erh while lightly fermented enough to preserve the stimulating cha qi and hui gan of a raw pu-erh. After-taste is sweet and thick.

very good aged pu er but open the wrapper and let air out for a few days. washing this tea is a must a 20 second wash and a 30 second infusion works well. i left this tea in a pot with just enough water to cover overnight and added hot water to it almost 24 hours later and it brewed a very dark brew almost reminding you of a good malty scotch.

Brewing Two:

Incredibly thick feeling with spinachy-grassy flavor, medium strength and very pleasant with very light mint notes (20 seconds (5/27))

Has a strong fishy smell and taste. Also a strong muddy component. Has a long lasting hui gan and decent cha qi. Didn’t like it one bit cause of the overwhelming fishiness, Maybe it’ll improve with time!?

After breaking up the tuo and letting it air out for a couple of weeks I tried it again. All the fishiness is gone and the tea is really pleasant to drink, thick & smooth with a great aroma. Considering the price:quality ratio this is a very good tea afterall
