Rainforest Maté

Fruit Yerba maté Blend by Mighty Leaf Tea

Spice and fruit unite in Rainforest Maté tea, a unique mate herbal tea composed of energizing maté tea, licorice, spices, rosehips and pineapple chunks that revitalizes when brewed. Maté tea is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, and contains natural caffeine, which affects the body differently than regular caffeine, both calming the nerves and bringing about an energetic lift.

I chose this tea as one of my free samples with my Mighty Leaf order. I was hoping to find a new mate. I did NOT however read too deeply into the description (bought the tea by its tea bag, if you will) because if I read “rose petals” and especially “licorice” I can assure I would have avoided this tea all together. However, even with my distaste for two of the main ingredients, I tried it and was pleasantly surprised.

The tea itself smells like it is heavily spiced before and after brewing. This smell continues when drinking it, the aroma is almost overpowering, not off-putting, but strong. However, when actually drinking it, the spices along with the licorice, pineapple, rose petals and mate all blend together so that nothing is overpowering, but smooth and delicious.

I drank it hot with no sugar. I will try and resteep the bag, as Mighty Leaf teas can usually be resteeped. I feel that sugar can only make this better, but I am curious to see how much better.

This is my first maté tea. One of my good friends gave me a couple bags of it. I want to like it. At first taste I enjoy it, but the after taste has a fruity-minty flavor. As a person who doesn’t care for fruity teas, this is quite unpleasant. If you like minty fruit, this is a tea for you.

This is a warm fuzzy feeling tea. I picked it up because I loved the sound of pineapples in tea – very delicious – nothing too special but great for a rainy day of all day tea sipping awesomeness! :D

fruity sensations!

The teabags smell like an odd but inviting combination of mint, spice and fruitiness. The flavour is light and surpringly I’m picking up a bit of a licorice tang, or at least it atstes that way to me. The woody/vegetale flavour of the mate is only in the background, though I wouldn’t mind if it were a little bit stronger – maybe I’ll steep it a bit longer next time, though I’m hesitant to up the steeping temperature as mate can scald just like green tea.

This tea is a wonderful combination of “stuff”…it smells like a spicy potpourri and, admittedly, I have kept the used bag, dried it out and used it as such. :)

I am not a black licorice lover, but had I not read the flavoring on the box I would not have realized this tea had it. The tea has such a pleasant spicy, slightly sweet taste with just a hint of mint that it really doesn’t need a sweetener.

This is one of the first teas that I fell in love with and it still brings me much joy! :)

Smells like Green Tea Tropical, tastes ooogles better from any mate I’ve tried. Usually I get such a “coffee like” flavor from mate, but that is not the case here. I like it!

More thoughts on the tea I logged late yesterday afternoon…couldn’t stop thinking about this tea!! Love love love this. I should have eaten before I had it b/c I wasn’t hungry at all for dinner. Guess that would be good if I were on a diet! I will purchase a box of this as soon as I’m able too. I love the clarity that I felt after drinking it. Also seemed to be a mood elevator. I promise, I drank it and didn’t smoke it;)

This is my first Mate tea but I was pretty surprised. It was very smooth. The aftertaste was a bit shocking though. I found it to be a bit spicy; or rather spicier than I expected. All in all, not a bad tea.

Buying this tomorrow at Tea Desire!

They did not have this in stock, so upset, and they only sell the boxes of these teas, and for an exorbitant price!!

WOW! I LOVED THIS TEA! First off I have to say that I HATE licorice, so don’t let this discourage you from giving this tea a try. I didn’t try it for a long time, because I thought it was going to taste like Chai, which is usually TOO spicy for my taste. WRONG. It looks beautiful, smells FANTASTIC, tastes wonderful! I think this is now one of my favorites!
It’s a lot fruity, a just a little spicy, just a great blend of flavors with a little caffeine kick.

MOST AWESOME TEA BAGS ON THE MARKET!!!
Very very smooth, but too fruity.
Too many ingredients for mate drinkers to like.

Could be a great Mate Mojito.
Felt like they just picked all of the ingredients randomly and threw them in.
Grew on me as I drank.
Such a pleasant taste in my mouth after drink though.

I Love Mighty Leaf’s style though, and I love the teabags. If they came out with straight good Traditional Mate with these Teabags I feel they could take a lot of business away from other companies that sell teabags. I never buy Mate in teabags but I can guarantee you if I ever did I would buy theirs if they have Traditional Mate in teabags.

My second cup of this and I’m still trying to decide on it. I like it, I think. Reading the ingredient list it’s not something I would have chosen on my own as I really hate licorice. But somehow it works with everything else. Yup, I think it’s almost as good as my beloved Gaucho mate. It has a nice spiciness to it and it dries the mouth just a tiny bit.

First of all, this is a visually beautiful tea. The inside of the bag looks like it could be put into a kaleidoscope! The tea itself is a warm, floral, perfumy taste. Delicious. I am loving the mate right now because I’m quitting my coffee habit. Wish me luck!

Love this – but only in small amounts. I find myself only able to drink a cup or two a week before I get sick of all the complex flavors. Perfect for a rainy, warm day.

Tried this yesterday in 70 degree weather and sun. Overall was an acceptable tea, but not one that I’d want on a hot day (mostly because of the aroma). It was a strong spicy cinnamon smell that would be so warming and full bodied on a cold, fall day but was rather strong and unappetizing in the heat.

The flavors were smooth and some spice, but not as strong as one would think from smelling it. Overall was a good experience, but not for the warmer months in my opinion

The first few sips of this tea took some getting used to. After that though, like other comments, the tea was quick smooth and lovely. The first steep I drank with no sweetener. It was quite woody from the mate, but it may have been from the 5 minute reccomended steep time.

I resteeped and added a bit of sweetener. It really didn’t need it, the second steep was very smooth but pretty weak. Either way, it did give me some energy and was quite tasty!

Spicy, not a lot of licorice taste, and full bodied. A nice morning cup. Wonderful to smell as well.

This has been one of my favorite tea’s I’ve tried. I love the fruity flavors. It tastes well balanced. This one needs to steep at a high temperature for at least 5 minutes.

Enjoying another cup of Rainforest Mate. I have yet to find a tea I enjoy more than this one!

This is definitely my favorite tea right now. YUM!

This is the last tea that I had to try from Mighty Leaf, and I was a little turned off by some of the ingredients listed on the box. I’m not a fan of licorice at all. But I went in with an open mind anyway, and was pleasantly surprised. As the tea was steeping, the aroma of cinnamon was most prevalent, and was extremely pleasing. The liquor looked almost green tea like. The taste was nothing like the original cinnamon smell surprisingly. The mint flavor dominated the tea, with hints of sweet flavor underneath it. Definitely the best herbal tea I’ve tried so far.
