Chamomile Citrus

I’m gonna have to side with @TeaEqualsBliss & others on this one. While I’m not a huge fan of Chamomile I feel the flavor of this tea is lacking that where they come off as calling it “Citrus” I’m not sure. The aroma has a hint of medicinal to it, which always inhibits me from fully enjoying the tea. Sorry Mighty Leaf… maybe another try later. :-/

I just bought a tin of various Mighty Leaf Teas from Nordstrom’s E-Bar coffee shop. This one has a nice aroma blend of apple and orange when dry. Once in the hot water, the hibiscus and rose hips start bleeding rose color into the water, but complete submersion gives it a nice reddish-gold color like mild honey.

I find the Egyptian chamomile they use to be a lot milder than German, and the citrus is really what comes out in this tea. The aroma really makes you notice the little pieces of orange rind and bits of lemongrass. I do really like this brad’s use of silk mesh bags because you don’t get the stray leafage in your tea. It strains it perfectly.

Upon sipping, the chamomile taste is much more apparent than it is in the scent. It balances the citrus to the point where I can’t really taste either one over the other, and the rose hips come out nicely with a tiny bit of tanginess. Lightly astringent, I enjoy this tea’s effect. I can also imagine it would settle an upset tummy quite well. Afternoon to evening for this one, it’s definitely going to mellow you out.

Potpourri appearance with whole herbs displayed in an organza (ultra fine mesh) sachet. I love a good-lookin’ tea! A tsp of light agave nectar rounded the flavor out and added body. Similar to the less pricey Stash Lemon Blossom, but lacks it’s lemony zip. Very good in its own, milder way. I taste safflower, but it’s not in the ingredients listed by Mighty Leaf. P.S. This is my favorite bedtime tea. Whenever I can get a cup in before bed, this is the one I turn to.

Did I snag this from a hotel room? Most likely. Am I wishing I was on vacation right now? Most definitely. So for a half hour, I’m going to pretend that the 52 other tabs on my laptop are not important and focus on this mug of afternoon tea and a crispy chocolate chip cookie.

6 minutes recommended steeping time does seem a bit too much for this one but as a rule follower I did as it said. The tea is bright and light. I don’t think I like the blend of flavors. Individually, I do enjoy spearmint, hibiscus, lemongrass, and chamomile but together is too much. It seems like a muddy herbal mess. Maybe the 6 minutes was a mistake and I would enjoy it more with less time in the water.

A little more fun than your average chamomile. Spearmint and citrus.

I thought I need another cup today. But it is already 9 pm, so something caffeine-free will be a winner. Another chamomile? Okay, who another will drink it than I. Oh it is with citrus. That could work. Hmm, in sachet – there is lots of yellow chamomile buds, something wihich looks like lemongrass and few pieces of zest of some citrus. Probably grapefruit or something as it is slightly red.

I just kept the sachet in while drinking. Colour is quite light, with yellow notes. That can be caused by my lamp though. But even through white led from mobile it is same. So I can´t blame lamp.

Aroma is quite sweet, citrusy (no, really?), maybe bit medicinal. But that is the camomile, huh?

Taste? It works quite well together. Chamomile is quite weak and it is really fresh. Bit like some kind of lemonade – I can imagine it iced. Whoa, it really tastes good.

I took a pouch of this from the TTB and have been drinking it every few days. Today is a sipdown.

The chamomile itself seems very fresh, which gives a more vegetal and citrus flavour than older chamomile. The herbs in it are nice and definitely relaxing, but mint and citrus do not mix in my opinion. At least it is sweet spearmint instead of peppermint because the sweetness goes better with the sourness of the citrus rind.

Aromas: lemon, orange, grapefruit, floral, mint

Great tea bag quality, I appreciate that there is no staple on the silk pyramid pouch.
This tea has really strong floral notes with hints of citrus, a very subtle chamomile. The lemon zest that lingers is quite pleasant and adds to this tea’s sophistication.

Thank you Evol Ving Ness for the share. However’s I don’t think I am this tea’s target audience given my dislike of chamomile. It’s not the worst chamomile tea I have tried and the lemongrass comes out quite strongly but that isn’t a flavor I love and even if it was, it isn’t enough to hide the chamomile. It is always nice to try new things though because you never know what might surprise you.
