Well, I’m new to the “loose leaf” tea game, as I normally drink Tetley’s orange pekoe in the morning with a little 10% cream and sugar. A friend just bought me some “Golden Monkey” from Teavana and a matching stainless steel mug and strainer to go with it. It smells great, like good pipe tobacco, but it doesn’t taste great (good pipe tobacco smells good but it doesn’t taste great either). Maybe I need to acquire a taste for this stuff. I notice some comments on Steepster berating Teavana. I haven’t been in their store but I did try a taste sample they had at the front and I think their concept is a great idea. Are they too expensive? Maybe I’ll check out them out and see for myself. Hey, what’s a good, safe tea to make me sleep at night? Thanx!
Golden Monkey
Golden monkey is a complex black tea from China’s Fujian province with golden-tipped leaves meticulously picked by hand in the spring. The golden monkey infusion opens with the aroma of autumn leaves and delivers a rich nutty flavor with a caramel finish. Golden monkey is named for it unique appearance. Resembling monkey claws, the leaves produce a full-bodied tea with a rich flavor. This complex tea pairs well with chocolate and rich desserts. a delicious self-drinking tea for the tea connoisseur.
