Black Lava Rush

Black Fruit Blend by Moonrise Tea Garden

We get comments like, “This is the best tea I have ever had.” A tasty fusion of Lava Rush Punch and black tea. Most excellent iced & good hot too.

Thanks to MoonTea for this one!

This is really, really good. I was a little nervous seeing hibiscus in the ingredients list, but this is definitely a blend where it is used responsibly. Anyway, it was a hot day yesterday, so I decided to make this iced, though I did sneak a sip hot (good hot – the apple and goji berries came through on top and added a lovely juiciness to the tea) but iced is when this tea really shines. The flavours really pop, especially the pink peppercorns, which made the blend a real winner (apart from chais, I have never been able to taste the peppercorns in a tea before). I’m so glad MoonTea sent me a whole ounce of this!

Backlogging – I had this yesterday morning so I’m just going off my notes. The dry leaf had loads of apple pieces and the pink peppercorns look so pretty, with the scent mainly mild black tea with perhaps a hint of apple. The steeped tea followed in the same vein as the dry scent – black tea with a little apple. The first few sips were just black tea with a strong apple aftertaste but after cooloing a little bit, I could taste sweet apple, tart berries, hibiscus, and peppercorn.
