From Nature's Tea Leaf

Citrus Lavender Sage Herbal Tea is a refreshing blend of vibrant sage leaf, citrusy lemon and floral lavender. Sage leaf is an herb native to the Mediterranean region that has naturalized in many areas around the globe. The word Sage (or Salvia officinalis) comes from the Latin salvere which means to save (referring to healing properties associated with this herb). It is suggested that sage may be useful in preventing Type 2 diabetes by lowering blood sugar levels in people considered “at risk”. Sage leaf is also known to boost memory, reduce anxiety and aid in treating fevers and colds, sore throat and headaches as well as gastrointestinal upset. When combined with zesty, vitamin C filled pieces of lemon and sweet, soothing lavender flower, the result is a delicious and satisfying tea that will ease the stress of a long day.

My samples from Nature’s Tea Leaf came today! What perfect timing, since I have a bit of an upset tummy and could use a soothing herbal blend. I was really happy to find this on their site since I’ve wanted to try the Teavana blend with the same name, but it has pineapple. What is up with that? Do they just add fruit to all of their blends to make them heavier or something? But here it’s just lemon, sage and lavender.

I happen to love sage teas, though I know they are a bit divisive. I have 2 others, Bergamot Sage (Rishi) and Ginger Sage Spa Blend (Verdant), but this one is quite different because of the lavender. It reminds me of Sleepytime, if that tea was slightly savory! The lavender and sage are an absolutely perfect match, the sage tempering the floral nature of the lavender while adding a nice mellow effect.

The lemon brings it together with a bright pop of citrus and adds another dimension. It’s a simple blend where every ingredient gets a chance to shine, and nothing is overpowered or overdone. It’s a perfect after-dinner or before bed tisane, relaxing and soothing!

Well. This is certainly interesting. Not sure how well I like it but it certainly is a strong taste. Strongly savoury despite the bit of sugar I put in. I almost feel like I should be pouring this tea over potatoes to make some sort of dinner dish, that’s what this tastes like to me.

I think this is a love it or hate it tea and I just don’t love it.

Try Teavana’s Citrus Lavender Sage, I feel like the savory taste is fairly reigned in.
