From Numi Organic Tea

Ages before the birth of humanity, when ice still covered the earth, a family of high-mountain Camellia plants thrived. From these, the tea bush traces its noble lineage.
Our whole leaf Temple of Heaven – Gunpowder Green Tea is gently steamed within hours of being plucked, then skillfully hand rolled into small tight pearls. This process preserves its delicate flavor and aroma far longer than other green teas. Steeped in hot water, the leaves unfurl, releasing a well-rounded, full-bodied flavor. Rich in fluoride, calcium, and anti-oxidants – and with very little caffeine – this is a perfect choice to greet the evening.

I like it alot, it was my first “green tea” experience. It’s abit light on the flavor but eh, it was good.

One of the perks of organizing a conference is you get your pick of leftover catering stuff, so I grabbed the tea. May not be the best quality but it’s always fun to try new things.

I’m drinking this tonight because I have some blood work to take care of tomorrow and need to fast. I read that green tea is supposed to lower glucose levels, which is one thing being tested. Bad time to get this done since I ate more sweets than normal this weekend due to said conference. Ugh. So let’s hope the green tea, cinnamon, and vinegar (not consumed together!) will help rebalance things.

Onto the tea. It’s meh. Quite vegetal. A little flat. I swear I’d rather drink Tetley green tea.

Hope the test comes out all right.

My first Gunpowder tea. Amazingly it tasted exactly like I expected it to.

Weird.

I’m buying more teas out of my comfort zone, whatever that is. Maybe it is how much I’m willing to pay. This was in the organic food aisle, so that immediately bumped the price up two dollars (it cost about 6.50ish). I decided to splurge.

It’s drinkable. In my experimental stage I never got a bad cup of tea out of this Gunpowder tea. Once forgetting the teabag and letting it sit for 10 minutes and it was fine. Maybe that’s the only ding I can come up with, that the tea was almost too consistent. It never really changed. It was good though.

I’m not the biggest fan of green tea, I won’t lie. But, this wasn’t a terrible tea, though I won’t necessarily run out to get another box; and Numi’s a fairly good brand.

Nice tea with fresh grassy notes. Don’t oversteep as with all greens!

Honestly, not bad for a bagged tea. If for some reason you find yourself without a strainer to make loose leaf, then you’ll probably be satisfied just drinking this. Granted, I haven’t really tried any other gunpowder greens at the moment, but this is still pretty tasty and sweet without any bitterness. Also, I have to hand it to the people at Numi down in Oakland, the packaging is pretty attractive.

This Is My All Time Favorite Green Tea, I Love The Grassy Vegetal Notes In This Tea, And Most Of All I Love The Fact That This Tea Can Be Traced Back To 5,000 Years Ago, Thats Only 1000 Years After YEHOWAH (GOD) Created Everything, I Praise GOD For This Tea And All Tea’s, I Hope And Pray With Time I Will Get To Try Better Variety’s Of This Tea But If Not I Will Always Have My Numi And Numi IS Good Enough For This Tea Connoisseur!

I steeped this for 3 minutes.
This is the first gunpowder green tea that I have tasted. It is kind of smooth for a green tea. It is also not very astringent. It has a mild grassy flavor. I also did not taste any bitterness.
This would make a great base tea to combine with mint or citrus. Or great for people who do not like green teas with strong flavor profiles like Dragonwell.

Another pick from the sample pack. This one was nice, but it didn’t seem all that different from other regular Green Teas that I’ve had, which was somewhat disappointing to me, considering the name. I expected something called “Gunpowder Green Tea” to be a bit more… explosive. No, not literally. I like my eyebrows where they are. Let’s just say, I anticipated more of a bite, rather than a lack thereof. All in all, it’s a good tea. Just not as exciting as I expected.
