Moroccan Mint

Herbal Tea by Numi Organic Tea

In the Moroccan spring, the snow melts off the Atlas Mountains, watering the plains below. As the days warm, some of the most soothing, refreshing and full-flavored mint flourishes in this ancient land of the Berbers. With a flavor as light and lively as a newly picked leaf, our choice organic mint will become your favorite mint teasan. An all-day or after-dinner delight, no wonder the Moroccans drink ten cups a day.

As soon as I got to the office today, I had a message on Facebook from a guy I went to high school with, asking if I wanted to have coffee as soon as possible. So I left the office and went to a coffeeshop downtown that I’ve never been to before, since I don’t drink coffee.

They had quite a selection of tea, but nothing that was too appealing to me. I always like mint, so I gave this one a shot. It was pretty good, but I’m spoiled, I think. I’ve had a lot of better minty teas!

I didn’t think I’d be able to, but I can actually taste the differences in this brew from a standard mint tea. The tisane doesn’t have nearly as much of the tongue-numbing menthol taste as peppermint tea has for instance. It has a fuller, sweeter flavour with a bit of a green taste.

I suppose not all mint teas are created equal after all. ;)

A pleasant strong spearmint flavor, reminds me of mint julep and candy spearmint leaves (especially since I added sugar). The directions say to steep 5 to 6 minutes, and it is definitely necessary to achieve a strong flavor. I love the taste of mint, and I love the fact that this is not mixed with green tea. This would probably make a great iced tea in the summer.
UPDATE: You can get a second steeping out of the bag and still have a good strong flavor.

My boyfriend made me a cup of tea today and he knew I wanted to try this tea. The tea bag leaked some peppermint powder when it was steeping, so it made the cup look a little unpleasant, but it didn’t effect the tea at all.

I thought this was a little weak. It had a little bit more of a peppermint taste to it, but not much. It tasted smoother than the Stash Peppermint tea and that was nice. I think the next time I have a bag I will have to steep it really strong. It could be that I like steeping herbal teas stronger than my normal cup of tea and that is why I’m not getting the full flavor I would like. I want to try this at least two more times before I stop drinking it. One with a stronger steep and one iced.

My fiancee always makes me a cup of this tea if I am overly nervous about something. It does calm me down and settle my stomach, but I have never really liked it hot. I think I prefer it as an iced tea with just a touch of sugar. Then it is wonderfully delicious!

This tea was my everything while i was travelling in San Francisco- i decided to back pack. It rained the whole time- hot, humid rain. Lucky i stumbled upon this tea. It was so refreshing and cooling- that it became my beverage of choice. Each time i was out exploring, this tea was in my backpack. Just sips away.

Bagged

Aroma when Dry: lingering Soft, slightly powdery, velvety sweet, minty
(western)
After water is first poured:. dessert like minty, almost vanilla notes
At end of steep:
Tea liquor:
At first: pale spring greenish
At end of steep: deep russet brown

Staple? YES! Looking into the loose leaf next
Time of day preferred: Any, but early morning or late at night it is lovely
Season: Summer preferred
Taste: cool, smooth, minty, woody, slightly flat
first notes:
As it cools? Notes open up greatly, start to hold their own, I can taste “layers” of minty goodenes, and it starts to sweeten naturally.
Additives used (milk, honey, sugar etc)? No. Have used honey and agave when chilled in a blend with other herbals, both work, but are unneeded in it plain. Love floating pine nuts in it when warm, is a great accent (was introduced to Moroccan mint this way in restaurant.)
Lingers? Yes with smooth, crisp minty cooling notes, no afterbite.
Also great (better) cold/cooler.

So I bought this tea in my trip to vegas, and im tasting it right now while im uploading the photos of the incredible vacation. To be honest the tea is very soft, so it’s quite cool to have it before sleeping (like im doing right now) but…i tried much better morrocan mint teas.

It’s been forever since I’ve tealogged. Between it being finals time, and my infuser getting moldy I just haven’t really gotten around to drinking so much tea. At the cafeteria this morning I grabbed a packet of this to drink, and I just made some for myself.

put a packet of equal in it. not a very strong flavor, but I do taste traces of mint. It’s not a bad tea at all. Pretty good choice for winding down. I probably wouldn’t buy this ever, but for free it’s definitely a good choice :)

I have so many different brands of Moroccan Mint Tea, what I like about this one (not the fact I just burned my tongue on it) is that it’s straight up herbal. I need it caffeine free sometimes :)

My first mint tea in a long time to wind down my work day. Since I don’t have anything to compare to, I will say that ‘s nice to sip for the afternoon. I think I was expecting something special, so maybe I’m a bit disappointed.

Got this tea last night after dinner with the hubby. A little sushi and afterwards in the grocery store, I saw this little gem! Mmmm I think this is one of the better mint teas I have ever had. It tastes full bodied and creamy to me. Very nice and easy on the throat. Fragrant fresh mint wafts through the air…ahhh :) delightful.

A little too smoky for me, but better than peppermint.

A mellow, sweet, and smooth spearmint flavor for times when you feel like mint but without the intensity of peppermint. Though I prefer peppermint in general, this is a gentle, before-bed flavor.

Not my favorite mint tea. Was re-steepable 2 twice, with extremely fast declining mint flavor leaving very little tea flavor behind. The scent was very agreeable, fresh and invigorating. This is not a tea I can drink all day long because after the re-steep, the taste is disappointing even in a new cup.

Very light and base. Usually with overly mint-tasting things I feel a kind of acidity in my stomach, but not this time! It’s also very smooth on the palette, albeit not the best Mint tea.

In summary: Ho-hum “Pick Me Up” tea.

I steeped this one for a good 5 min. and it was really refreshing and light. My mother-in-law said that it tasted just like the tea she had in Moracco…so I guess they’re right on!

chocowitz

Not the best Moroccan mint that I’ve had, but still decent.

Mmm, mint teas. I pretty much love ANY mint tea, though Iam picky about general flavor and such. This isn’t as smooth as Ineeka’s tea, but it is pretty delicious and light – though I sometimes feel very heavy (not as in weight) after I drink it.
