Shizuoka Green Tea Daily Sencha

Green Tea by O-Cha.com

Daily Sencha – This second harvest green tea is an above average quality sencha, far and away better than what you will find in your local grocery or health food store. Harvested in June, the tea plants of this green tea consist of a 95% Yabukita/ 5% Sayamakaori-Ooiwase indigenous mix. If you are new to green tea, this would be a good starter tea. Fresh from Japan.

Brewed the new and improved version of this tea, made from a blend of Kyushu leaves. A very good tea, all round, with a pleasantly vegetal taste in the first brew, and a deliciously-grassy and astringent second brew. At the price, an excellent value!

First infusion — 5 g. per 8 oz. water, 65 deg., 1 min.

Second infusion — 5 g. per 8 oz. water, 65 deg., 1 min.

Third infusion — 5 g. per 8 oz. water, 65 deg., 5+ min.

I brewed this tea for about a minute, longer than that it becomes too strong. It’s very good but it has a subtle bitter aftertaste. It’s not as sweet as other senchas I have tried.

I really like this sencha. It is quite easy to make (as long as you mind the temperature), and a second steep is also very flavorful.

It’s been a while since I have drank this (I have been consuming other teas that have been building up in the cupboard). Like putting on a soft, broken-in shoe, this tea means comfort!

お久しぶりです。 One of my favorites, and drink nearly every day. Just enough of a lift to get me going in the morning without overdoing it. A wonderful grassiness.

I haven’t been posting much lately, life certainly has a way of getting in the way.
I really can’t say enough about this tea. An excellent sencha for the price. It always hits the right spot.

Well it looks like I have a new personal favorite. This particular Sencha has that full-bodied/grassy taste that I’ve become fond of and visually it’s a cloudy dark green.

It can get a bit ‘iffy’ if steeped longer then one minute, though.

Bog standard green tea here. Not much in the way of aroma, kind of sweet, but more astringency than what i’m use to. I often blend this up with matcha which lifts the flavor out of the doldrums a bit.

This is the green tea I drink nearly every day. It’s fussy but when perfectly prepared has the grassy sweetness that is what I love about sencha.

An excellent sencha for the price. Best prepared in a kyusu with a water temperature of 160-165 degrees F. Pleasantly grassy and I can get two to three decent steeps per scoop.

Having a cup with my favorite breakfast: a scrambled egg on top of a bowl of rice. The tea is a gentle wake-up from a weird night.

I never get tired of this sencha. Second steep is still pretty good. Third steep is about as far as I’ll push it (175 degrees, 2 minutes)

My morning cup, a little gentler than a cup of black tea.

My breakfast cup.

Always in my tea cupboard. A great sencha for the price.

Burning midnight oil, pausing to prepare and consume a cup of sencha. A calming but energizing flavor, and preparation in a kyusu provides a refreshing break from the computer screen.

The tea itself is grassy with a slight astringency at the finish, a pleasant aroma, a green-gold liquor. Amazing quality for the price.

A fantastic sencha for the price. Aromatic, pleasantly grassy, a yellowish-green liquor. Present in my stash at all times.

Takes a bit more effort than a black tea to make properly, but the few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the world is worth it. An excellent sencha, mild astringency, grassy sensation. Prepared with a kyusu to bring out the best flavor. An amazing tea at a very reasonable price. This is never out of stock in my house.

It’s called “Daily”, and indeed it is found in my cup every day.

Trying this with a breakfast of haiga rice topped with an egg. I am finding this much more comforting and stimulating than black tea this morning. Maybe I should have this with breakfast every day instead of a black tea. But, I’m not sure how it would match up with my usual oatmeal breakfast.

Never fails to disappoint, and I always feel like a million bucks after each cup. I swear this stuff is magic.

I was dead on my feet until the green liquid flowed. I swear this can cure a rainy day.

This cup came out a bit on the creamy side, a cloudy liquor and pleasantly grassy. Enjoying it via little sips, while I think about the greater things in life.

Backlogging from yesterday. Fantastic!

A fantastic flavor. Grassy and calming. Prepared in a kyuusu with water at about 165F.

Indeed, daily. My regular morning thing, unless I need some jet fuel.

I don’t make this nearly as often enough. Grassy, fragrant, mild, beautiful green color. And inexpensive for such a fantastic tea! If I had to choose only one tea and forsake all others, this would be my choice to keep.

Simple and grassy, no bitterness. Subtle but complex. I don’t make this tea as nearly as often as I should!

Backlogging. I had about five or six cups of this last night with guests. While normally I would prepare in a kyuusu to bring out the best flavor, I opted to use a western-style teapot as I needed more volume. Use a teapot with a removable strainer. Fill the strainer outside of the pot with the appropriate amount of tea. Fill the pot half-way with water at the appropriate temperature. Place strainer inside teapot, then pour in the remaining water. Remove strainer from the teapot at the appropriate time, and serve. Not as grassy and clean-tasting as from a kyuusu, but pretty darn good.

Simple and delicious.

Soothing, calming, relaxing.

A clean, refreshing, grassy sencha. Excellent!
