From Palais des Thés

Pure Indulgences Cinnamon is an exceptional new flavored tea featuring a single natural ingredient.

This deliciously novel pairing combines a magnificent Chinese Pu Erh with subtle, sweet cinnamon for an exceptional blend.
Pu Erh, also called dark tea in reference to the deep brown infusion it produces, gets better with age. These teas come from the Yunnan Province in China and are widely renowned in the Asian pharmacopoeia for their many beneficial properties.

Pure Indulgences are the result of a lengthy process of selection and development, motivated by the quest to find the perfect balance between the tea leaves, which have their own gustatory characteristics, and the finest ingredients (delicate pieces of fruit and flowers and only all-natural extracts).

Another from Donatzsky, little sample package (good for my collection at least (if tea is bad))

I wantede do it western. Ratio tea/water would be bad. Grandpa – I was afraid it would be too strong. Decided for gong-fu then.

4 grams/85 ml.

Well, this tea sounds interesting. Cinnamon is my fav, pu-erh is still hit or miss. And I think this is shu.

I rather did not made any rinse, I was kind of afraid all cinnamon would be gone. So here we come:

1st steep, 20 seconds (why so long, Martin?)
Earthy for sure, but with mellow cinnamon notes. Those for aroma. In taste it is, unexpectably, similar. It is earthy, but thre cinnamon mellows it a lot and it actually tastes like some cinnamon cupcake. Good start I think.

2nd, 30 seconds
pours really dark liquor, much more earthy and no more much cinnamon. It is there, but weak. Not a good one. It is “muddy”.

3rd, 30 seconds
Yep, this is like first steep. But without cinnamon. It all flushed away? Earthy.

4th, 40 seconds
Longer, but more watery. Even clearer when poured, previous ones were very opaque, this one is actually clear. Probably it wasn´t meant to be made gong-fu. In taste it is some kind of cheap pu-erh.

5th, 60 seconds
Last one. It is almost clear. No colour, no opaque. No taste. Okay, little bit of taste – earthy something. But even that is so weak.

Backlog:

I love the aroma of this tea. It smells so delightfully cinnamon-y. I don’t generally “love” the aroma of a pu-erh tea, but this one is an exception to that, because the cinnamon seems to work very well with the natural earthiness of the pu-erh. It doesn’t smell like a spicy cinnamon, it’s more of a sweet cinnamon like the smell you’d get when there’s a fruit pie with cinnamon baking. That kind of sweet cinnamon smell.

The cinnamon is smooth and rich … which is an unusual way to describe cinnamon, because it isn’t what I would normally categorize as a smooth spice. But with this tea, the flavor comes across as a true, rich cinnamon flavor like something you’d find in the top-notch spice shops. This is not your average grocery store cinnamon.

The pu-erh is mellow and earthy, but again, the earthiness here works to the cinnamon’s advantage. This is a really harmonious combination of flavors.

The early infusions were mostly about the cinnamon, but as I continued to steep I noticed the cinnamon began to wane and more of the pu-erh began to emerge. Deep, smooth and flavorful. Not bitter or astringent.

A really lovely tea experience.
