The dry tea smells like a strong earl grey. While brewing, I still only get the earl grey smell. On first taste it is a strong bergamot earl grey but with quite an artificial raspberry flavour. I liken it to cough syrup taste but without the punch that you get with cough syrup. As the tea cools the raspberry becomes less artificial and there is less cough syrup taste. It is not really what I expected from this tea. The black base is only slightly astringent. I brewed for my usual 2 min. I am going to bring the brewing time down. And see if that makes a difference in the flavour.
Edit: after the tea cooled to almost room temp the raspberry was quite prominent and nicely flavoured. Still artificial but it worked well with the earl grey.
A 1 min steep tasted mostly like a very mild earl grey. No raspberry or fruitiness
I have had this tea numerous times today and am finding a 1 min 30 second steep is giving me a nice smooth earl grey with a raspberry flavour. Again the raspberry is a bit artificial tasting, but still good. The two flavours blend well together. Not astringent at this steep time.
OH MY GOD THIS TEA WAS AMAZING.
My amazing and incredible wife made a Thermos of this for me to take to work, and it was incredible from the first sip to the very last. It was fruity but not too fruity, and smooth not bitter, with an nice light natural sweetness. This tea has renewed my faith in Earl.
I’ve tried one other Raspberry Earl Grey that I can recall, and I can’t recall it tasting this good. This is amazing.
The flavor of the raspberry dominates, but this works to this teas advantage. The bergamot is a softer, background note, but I love how the two compliment each other. The raspberry is slightly stronger, but it doesn’t overwhelm, it is sweet and fruity and lightly tart. The bergamot is slightly softer, but, it is certainly distinguishable, it tastes citrus-y, tangy and the overall result is a smooth, berry tingly, deliciously different cup of Earl Grey.
sheepishly crawls back in Guh work is kicking my butt, but I finally talked them down to part time, so hopefully I’ll have time for things I actually enjoy now. >.>
This was tasty! I love me some raspberry and while I’m not a huge fan of Earl, I do occasionally enjoy it. They mixed together quite well, I really liked it. However, about halfway through the cup it began wearing on me. I don’t know what it was, but ultimately, this wasn’t the tea for me. Oh well, at least the wife loves it! The raspberry was only slightly there, which is probably why I shied away from it. If the wife wanted to share a pot, this would be an option, which is good because there are only a few we both agree on, but I wouldn’t seek it out for myself.
May I just say how much I love Red Leaf Teas, however? We spent something like $80 (with free shipping) and got 20 teas. The small bags are big enough for both of us to truly try a tea quite a few times and decide if we like it, but not so big that if we don’t like it, we feel guilty for buying. I’m very, very impressed and will definitely order from them again.
I received this in a swap from ashleyelizabeth. Thank you!
I am not sure what to think about this tea yet. I have 3 cups and one cup was meh, the other cup was good and then the third cup I drank cold and it was okay as well. I think I will have to drink it a few more times before I really make up my mind about it. I would describe this tea as bright. Very citrus with a weird finish. I wouldn’t be able to name raspberry as a flavor in the tea if given this to sip without the name, but it adds an interesting flavor to the end of the sip. it is a bit artificial tasting. For now I will have no problems finishing what I have, but not sure I would purchase this one again.

So many of you know I am not a lover of EG but I have had some success with flavored ones so I decided to give this a try. That was a mistake as there seems to be no raspberry in this cup to mellow the bergamot. You never know unless you try though so thank you AshleyElizabeth (I think) for the opportunity.
Oh my god! So much bergamot! Not good. I am not getting any raspberry flavour, most likely because it is covered up by the extremely perfumey bergamot. I was pretty excited about this one. I like earl grey’s blended with other flavours, especially berry. I really like David’s earl’s garden. But this was a miss and now I have a huge bag of this that I’m not going to drink, Any takers? Don’t let my glowing review deter you from trying this.
