I finally broke down and ordered a couple of matchas from Red Leaf after reading all of the reviews on Steepster. I love macadamia nuts so I really wanted to try this!

You get a little wooden scoop with your order from Red Leaf. I measured out one scoop and mixed it with 8 oz. of soymilk, warmed in the microwave. My tea was kind of lumpy because I was attempting to stir it with a coffee stirrer and not a whisk or anything. I was amazed at how good the flavor was here. It’s very rich and nut-like, I got the macadamia for sure. I might have made a mistake by having this so late in the day, but it sure is good. I can see how this would make an incredible dessert or whipped cream.

OMG! It is good!

Tea of the afternoon, this stuff is seriously good.

I was thinking about buying a milk frother but then I discovered that mixing this up in the Blendtec creates a really great froth so I think I’ll skip having to buy another appliance. I wish I could afford all the matcha flavors!

Oh… my precious!

yum yum yum yum

Had to make some of this this morning, into a latte with soymilk and coconut sugar. Kind of decadent but mostly healthy too! :-D

This is one of those matchas I probably wouldn’t have given a second look if not for a review by Azzrian. And I do love nutty things… ut my boyfriend is allergic to most of them so I try not to keep nutty treats in the house. They won’t affect him if I eat them, but I just feel rude chowing down on something delicious he can’t have! (Nutella is my one exception haha) Tea flavorings are usually fine, but I’m so used to overlooking things because of nuts that I had barely glanced at this one before scrolling past it. Now I am SO glad I gave it a shot! I got:

Size: Small (30 grams) though now I wish I’d gotten a large…
Grade: Classic
Flavor: Distinctive

This matcha smells AMAZING in the bag. Sometimes the flavors seem overpowering, but not this one, oh no. I wanted to stick my face in there! But that didn’t really seem like a good idea so I made an iced latte instead. As I was making it, I thought back to my first time with Red Leaf’s matcha and how careful I was about measuring everything out. Now, I’m rather gung-ho about it, not measuring the water or the matcha. I make some sort of matcha drink almost every day, it’s practically second nature at this point!

So, the flavor of this matcha is out of this world. It’s just… heaven. Pure, delicious macadamia nuts. This is going to sound odd, and I am not entirely sure how to describe it, but the nutty flavor just permeates the entire cup. Like, you know with other matchas you can taste the flavor and the matcha? It’ll taste like caramel and matcha. Well this, it tastes like macadamia was ground up and somehow bound to the matcha. It’s perfect harmony, different than any one I’ve ever tried! It is just SO GOOD. Here’s the link for where to try it, and you really really should:

I think I need to try more of their nutty teas if they are anywhere near as scrumptious as this one!

Wow I can’t believe this one was not even in the Steepster Database!

Well I have to admit I was not as excited to try Macadamia Nut Matcha as I had been other flavors. A nut matcha to me seemed to be something one would mix with another outstanding sounding flavor, such as white chocolate mixed with macadamia nut perhaps. Alas white chocolate has not been released yet. I am sure I could have found something else to mix with this flavor but since it is my first time having it and I wanted to do a review I had it on its own.

I can only say WOW just simply WOW. This is the most amazing macadamia nut taste! It is such a strong flavor even at the robust level it actually may be a little too strong for some people. Not for me, I like my flavors strong, but if you want a more subtle flavor I would go with delicate.

All I can say is once again I am absolutely not disappointed in Red Leaf’s quality and flavors. I was so worried this flavor would only be so-so, a little nutty but not really having any true flavor unto itself. Fact is this tastes more macadamia nutty than anything else I can remember having outside of macadamia nuts themselves straight out of a can or jar, and I rarely have the nuts that way. Usually when I have macadamia nuts they are in a cookie somewhere.

Let me just say this, if I had to choose between a couple of the cookies, and this matcha – I would pick the matcha hands down every time! And know that while I say that White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies are may all time favorite cookies!

While this is the BOMB on its own as a stand alone flavor I sure can’t wait for white chocolate to be released in RLT’s lineup because I would in fact enjoy very much mixing these two wonderful flavors!

As always RLT’s base matcha is superior to any other I have had, and I love the customer service, fast shipping, and loyalty program.

My Macadamia Nut Matcha from Red Leaf Tea was composed of the following:

Options:
Size : Small, Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade), Flavor: Robust, Storage : Add Small Metal Tin Container (Holds up to 45g), Accessories: None

Sorry in advance for the negative review. I know it won’t be popular and I don’t even know what to make of this. I ordered this the other month as basic grade and robust flavour. As soon as I opened the packet, it smelled extremely strongly of bitter chemicals. Nothing even remotely close to macadamia nuts, or food for that matter. So I thought maybe it needed to just settle for a bit.

I’ve had it on and off and have practically forced myself to drink it. No matter how I prepare it, it tastes like a combination of indescribable chemicals, and the very little food-like taste I get is like rotten nuts. I’m not sure if it’s just me, the flavouring is better as distinctive, or I got a bad batch?

Either way, I think I’m about 1/3 through my small packet of it. Oh well.

Followup from the original mishap regarding this tea. Robert was so incredibly generous and resent me two packets of this so I could see if I still get the heavy chemical scent and taste from it, both in the regular and royal base. Both are also the same level of flavouring that I had originally ordered.

The good news is it isn’t as heavy on the chemicals as the original one I received, like maybe 20% less chemical, so maybe it’s just me. But since they’re better, I’m definitely going to be drinking them up!

By the way, this is my first time trying the royal grade and I can’t get over the difference! It’s so much silkier and the colour is even more vibrant. I think paying the extra $4 would be worth it.

While I really appreciate Red Leaf’s effort of trying to create a Macadamia blend, this is just not for me (not re-purchasable in my opinion). But hey, it’s no loss. The library of flavours is insane. Just keep exploring and one will find more gems out there (such as French Vanilla and Caramel).

This is a good one. It took some work to figure out the right proportions (which I’m learning is key to all of them), but once I figure out the optimal for me I really enjoyed it. The macadamia nut flavor is done really well. I may mix it with a bit with caramel. Fun to experiment with these!

First, a big thanks to Azzrian and AlphaKitty for their reviews on this flavor, because who knows when I would have tried it otherwise. There are so many choices! With that being said, I was very excited about preparing this today, since I have just purchased an Aerolatte, a milk frothing device. With a $5.00 off coupon at my local home goods store, this device was super cheap, and it works great! I sifted the matcha to get rid of lumps, and I used a heaping 1/2 teaspoon in 2 oz water plus 6 oz cold almond milk with a splash of cream and some sweetener. This stuff really does smell good in the bag. I ordered the robust flavor, but I’m glad I was generous with the amount of matcha, because I think you need a little more when you are using milk rather than water as a base. This thing was amazing. I ended up making a second one it was so good and I wanted a 3rd! The frother worked great-so quick- and it made it so nice and foamy, which I love. I have enjoyed every flavor so far from Red Leaf-this may be my favorite, but it’s hard to say because I love Caramel, Boysenberry, and Pumpkin Pie, and Black Cherry is on the way. To me, these are as satisfying as a milk shake and a lot fewer calories.
