Creme Brulee Matcha

Tea by Red Leaf Tea

When exotic, oriental and velvety Matcha is combined with the wildly popular Crème Brulee, the resulting taste can only be described as mouth watering. Crème Brulee Matcha is the desert of choice for those very warm and balmy days when guests are assembled and their tastes buds are primed for an unforgettable treat. The rich sweet burnt cream taste combined with Matcha’s uplifting touch, can turn an ordinary bland day into an extraordinary adventure for the palate. When served cool, this delectable and aesthetic looking desert always exceeds its expectations.
Crème Brulee Matcha is ideal for many settings where both adults and children are gathered. This is because, its creamy sweet taste makes it a favorite among young children, while Matcha’s balancing touch gives adults the extra edge that they need to make this excellent treat truly outstanding. With Crème Brulee Matcha nobody can go wrong irrespective of their surroundings. It blends perfectly with many other well loved deserts but quickly becomes a favorite because of the lasting feeling of pure pleasure in the mouth. Although it is best served cold, Crème Brulee Matcha can be taken at any time of the day or night despite the changing seasons of the year. It always leaves the lingering feeling of wanting more of the same.

This is very buttery and smooth. Sweet and decedent! The flavor is mostly the creme brulee custard rather than the burnt sugar topping but it is delicious nonetheless!
I do get the burnt sugar flavor more on the after taste.
Very nice!

So I won this from Red Leaf Tea for choosing a matcha name Yay! And they said I could choose any flavor and I could pick from flavors that had not been released yet. So I choose this one :) Now they are released on the site now, but when I got to choose its was all like Oh! I want to be the first one to get this :)

Now what I got was Size: Large Quality: Classic Flavor: Robust (first robust flavor other then the mocha one I got from Azzrian :) I forewarn I have been rambling on about everything today, so I probably will in this review too.

I have never had a creme brulee but from what I’ve watched (being obsessed with the food network) its like a custard with burnt sugar on top. So this is definitely a sweet creamy drink, cant say I get the burnt sugar taste. I do get more flavor from this one then matcha, but obviously I usually get my matchas in delicate so this being robust flavoring its going to have more :) I’m not sure why but when I drink this it tastes like the cheesecake matcha to me, I think I like this one a bit more then cheesecake its more smooth and delicious to me.But my cheesecake was also in delicate flavor. It is very good, sweet and creamy like a custard should be. Here is the link so everyone can get some :) http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/creme-brulee-matcha.html

I love crème brulee. My all time favorite dessert! My now husband made this for me before he proposed! (he makes the Alton Brown recipe btw). I also bought my husband a crème brulee ramekin kit and blow torch (from the hardware store) as a house warming gift for me to enjoy. I saw Red Leaf Teas had this in matcha form, oh totally getting it!

Specs on the matcha I’m drinking:

Matcha Quality: Classic (basic grade)
Flavor: Robust (because I love crème brulee!)

Out of the package, the first smell reminded me of that spun sugar smell like on Croquembouche, weird that I thought of that first instead of the blow torched topping on creme brulee! The smell of the matcha powder is very strong, caramel sugary.

I felt I should just go straight to making an iced latte, my favorite way to make a flavored matcha. 1/4tsp of creme brulee matcha and a bit of sugar whisked in some soy milk. The result, a very custardy matcha! The matcha also leaves an extra creamy feeling after my sip. The creme brulee latte tastes slightly eggy, not as eggy as Red Leaf’s “eggnog matcha” but more custardy buttery than “bavarian cream”. Creme Brulee matcha is very smooth and creamy too. Drinking it, I could almost sense the texture of an actual creme brulee custard.

Unfortunately, the only thing I’m missing in this matcha is the blow torched sugar top taste. I’m not sure if it needs more extra sugar, or it’s just a hard flavor to dupe plus its lots of texture.

Overall, pretty good, but I really want that sugar topping! Now I got images in my mind that I can have creme brulee whenever I want that isn’t 500 plus calories. Maybe spear in some caramelized sugar pieces for a nice visual or stir stick for my matcha.

I finally found that creme brulee flavor I have been seeking! Custard and burnt sugar and all. This one is amazing. Best flavor yet.

Classic Base, Robust flavor.

Made with about 8oz water, 2 oz milk, ice and a 1/2 tsp raw honey.

There are days, like today, that I wish I was affected by caffeine. Matcha has a fair amount of caffeine, 70 mg/tsp or something, according to the Red Leaf Tea website. I’m still searching for caffeine content for black matcha, but I expect it’s quite a bit higher than that. I didn’t get any sleep the night before last and I think I woke up in the middle of a REM cycle this morning because I kept having to slap myself to stay awake during my commute in. Unfortunately, while matcha is tasty first thing in the morning like today, the caffeine is not helping me wake up.

Creme Brulee Matcha (Found Here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/creme-brulee-matcha.html) is a nice thick custardy sweet sugar drink. I made this as a hot latte with a bit of sweetener from classic grade, distinctive level flavouring, green matcha. After having French Vanilla and Bavarian Cream matcha yesterday, I can’t say I’ll get all 3 again, probably just one of them, though I don’t know which one, but it’s nice to taste this all the same. It tastes like the custard part of the dessert, not the spun sugar top, but it’s quite nice. I haven’t had creme brulee in a while, too obsessed with chocolate things, but this is a nice reminder.

Delicious. I want more and more and more.

This is going down extra smooth today. Pretty much perfect.

Drinking this, this afternoon! 3rd matcha of the day! Tasty as always, though I might get it with robust flavouring next time, because there definitely will be a next time. Good hot latte.

3rd matcha of the day! Tasty! Put in 3/4 tsp this time, or thereabouts (it’s hard to judge, was about 2/3, but that 2/3 was heaping?). Nice clean cup that thankfully doesn’t taste too much like soap.

Drinking this my…4th matcha of the day. Good thing I’m not affected by caffeine or I’d probably be clinging to the ceiling by now. 2nd matcha in less than an hour. I’m still tired.

This is again very tasty. I think I’ll be able to decrease the amount of sugar I put in a hot latte (currently 1/2 teaspoon) very soon because it almost tastes too sweet as it is. Almost. Currently still quite delicious. I’m glad that I found Red Leaf Tea because it has opened up a whole new world of tea for me, flavoured matcha!

Thankfully this one is tastier than my last, but I think I only have one more serving of this after this one.

Last matcha at work today. A bit bland tasting today, probably because I just had a strong tasting tea just before it.
