From Red Leaf Tea

Carob powder has a sweet nutty taste and is often used as a substitute for cacao or chocolate powder when less caffeine is preferred.

The Carob fruit is grown in tropical climates and has many similarities with cacao. It is also known as St John’s Bread and its origins can be traced back to the Mediterranean lands. It is a fruit that has an eatable pulp but seeds that are not edible. To get the edible copper colored powder, this sweet pulp is dried and ground. In powder form it can be confused for many dark colored drinking beverages like drinking chocolate or even cocoa. The main difference is that carob powder has a nutty flavor that is not as sweet as that of other chocolate drinks.

To give carob powder a distinct taste that sets it apart from its counterparts, adding Matcha makes a drink that has the special taste that Matcha brings to any drink. Carob Matcha can be used as another alternative at tea parties where people want a different new taste to sample. Furthermore, Carob Matcha lends its drinkers health benefits that are long lasting.

Unlike many other beverages, it does not contain caffeine. This makes it a perfect beverage for the whole family including young children. It contains exceptional amounts of calcium which greatly assists in the fortification of the bone mass in people with bone density problems. This makes it a popular drink for women, senior citizens and those with bone density disorders. It can be used as a healthy alternative for those who have allergies to either cocoa or caffeine. It is very high in fiber and this makes it very good for ensuring digestive difficulties are kept at minimum. It is also used in the treatment of stomach conditions like diarrhea and acid reflux. It contains a large number of vitamins including D,B3,B2,B and A. It is also known to keep weight in check because it reduces LDL cholesterol levels.

Carob Matcha makes an excellent daytime drink and night cap for people who are health conscious but still want the feel of chocolate on their palate.

I’m not as fond of this aroma as the others, to be honest. It sort of smells like Carob but there is a slight ‘day-old-sock’ aroma to it too!

I will say the taste is better than the smell! It tastes like carob chips, is slightly nutty, and a bit malty. I do prefer the flavor once it’s luke-warm, however.

This isn’t among my fave from RLT but it’s still pretty good. I am happy to add it to my stash and share it with my SororiTEA Sisters

Had this as a latte this morning: 2.5 chasaku scoops sifted, enough 175F water to make paste, then added ~8oz of 150F skim milk. This was a sample so I’m guessing it’s basic grade matcha and delicate flavoring.

Reserving rating until I get another tasting, but this was neither over nor under whelming. More or less just tasted like a matcha latte. Creamy, vegetal matcha taste, didn’t get any bitterness, but also didn’t really get anything like carob either.
