Earl Grey Lavender

Black Oolong Blend by Revolution Tea

Revolution Tea’s award-winning Earl Grey Lavender adds a unique twist to a popular favorite. Ceylon, Oolong and Darjeeling estate tea leaves are lightly flavored with Oil of Bergamot and combined with super blue lavender to create a wonderful, sweet tea. Enjoy Earl Grey Lavender as a morning pick-me-up or as a late afternoon treat.

Update from box: now describes black teas used as Estate Grown Ceylon, Darjeeling, and Shui Xian Teas. Also specifies: “French Lavender Flowers and Italian Bergamot Flavor.”

This tea has been on my Shopping List for a long time and luckily TeaEqualsBliss sent me a couple sachets in our most recent tea trade.

It has a very nice smell – nicely tea-like with a hint of flowery-pungent lavender. It wasn’t so pungent as to be overpowering, nor was it that sweetly-fake smell you sometimes get in lavender-scented products – it was nicely balanced in between these two extremes.

The base is decent enough for a bagged tea – not tasting too harsh nor too dusty and tasteless. The bergamot was reasonaby mild-tasting and it made an interesting mix with the flavour of the lavender. They’re both plants that have a pungency to them so they make a good flavour pairing in my opinion.

The resteep (@ 5:30) unfortunately was pretty nasty – it tasted like watery tea crossed with that taste you get from undercooked pasta – ew! It went down the sink.

This was quite yummy with a splash of skim milk this morning. The lavender is less pungent but it gives the tea an intriguing herbal flavour to it. I could readily see this tea taking over as one of my default morning bagged tea.

Last time I had tea with lavender (White Lion?) I was underwhelmed and I’m not sure whether that was because I didn’t know what I was doing or it really wasn’t well done. Now I am inclined to go on a lavender-tea quest as a parallel to my Earl Grey adventures.

I also used to think all Earl Greys were alike. There was “tea,” and there was “Earl Grey” tea, and much, much later, there was “green tea” and — you get the picture.

I also had trouble figuring out which log to put this tasting note under. There’s another labeled for the 16 individual infusers, which is what I actually have, and which doesn’t look much like the tall tin box in the photo attached to this one! I finally went with this because it had more tasting notes attached and because, after visiting the Revolution site, it looks like they put all their teas into pyramid-shaped cloth (polyester? Silk?) sachets. I like the idea of the re-sealable foil envelope inside the box, too.

ANYWAY: I used one sachet, probably could have used less water or steeped longer, and probably will try one of those next time. I still am getting a nice subtle bergamot/floral scent and flavor, though. I added half-and-half and am very happy.

Bought this at a TOPS yesterday in Fredonia, NY. They had 4 Revolution Teas for sale. 2 I have tried and then 2 others – could only buy one…not much cash on me…so I sprung for this one! Glad I did. It’s stronger than a Lady Grey but not Bergamotty like the super strong Earl Grey’s. It’s a nice blend of Earl Grey and Lavender. Glad I bought it.

Random Backlog…see previous notes :)

I sending 2 bags to Jillian and drinking the last one in my stash! See my other reviews on this tea…

Had a cup a while ago…getting quite low…I really must buy some more black and black flavors. I know I keep saying that but…

Yup! I hadda cup! What’s Up?

My tastes are more into the blacks, black flavored, and bolder teas today. I wanted an Earl Grey but not an everyday average one…this fits the bill at the moment.

My first cup this morning…wasn’t very strong tho…maybe my water wasn’t hot enough!??? Still ok tho!

2nd Infusion also good!

This tasted different today. Not bad, just different…maybe I got an “off” bag…hum…

I didn’t have super high hopes for this one based on my last tea by this company, but I can’t help but try all the new teas I get right after I get them, so I chose this sachet anyway.

Dry it smelled primarily like herby lavender with a bit of bergamot and something else; an almost peppery note that I’m not sure is coming from the lavender or the tea. Brewed it smells heavily of lavender, and the taste is primarily lavender with a hint of slightly astringent bergamot at the end of the sip. It’s a fine enough tea, and certainly better than the one I had yesterday, but it’s not Earl Grey-y enough for me, and the bergamot that is there just adds astringency and combines with the herby lavender in a not-great way in the aftertaste. My rating on this one started out higher but I kept dropping it as I progressed through the cup.

This was on my shopping list for a while, but I’d pretty much given up on actually getting it.

But somehow! Tealicious happened to be selling them. I’ve never seen them selling any other teas but their own. But either way, it was buy one get one free, so I picked up a box of this and white pear.

Dry, I could only just make out a whiff of lavender. The bergamot was the centre stage. Brewed, the lavender was much stronger, mixing with the bergamot, and giving it an oddly… ginger smell. Huh. I think it’s because both lavender and ginger’s smells are classified as “pungent”.

I get floral notes, and only a little bergamot in the first sip. Very little of the actual tea. This is my first time tasting lavender, and it’s much different from any other florals I’ve tasted. Again, more pungent, although it has its own sweetness. The bergamot comes back as the tea cools.

Ohh this is a nice earl grey, I really love the smell of lavender though in all honestly I don’t get much of the taste (IDK WHAT DOES LAVENDER TASTE LIKE ANYWAY?), could be because I added milk though. BUT ANYWAY it is quite delicious!

I got a Revolution sampler set and I’ve been saving this particular tea for just the right moment. Today I find myself tired and needing a kick of caffeine and also strangely anxious. Earl Grey + Lavender to the rescue! I love the effect of the scent of lavender on my nervous system, I’m hoping that works in tea as well.

This tea smells amazing right out of the box. Yum! I’m already wishing I had more than one bag. When steeped the tea smells more of earl grey than lavender. I only see one little purple flower through the mesh – hopefully there are more inside the bag!

MMMM… this tastes amazing. It’s a little hot, but I’m sipping it anyway. The earl grey is mild and I can taste the subtle floral of the lavender. I’m glad this is a subtle tea, I don’t feel like getting smacked across the face with flavor this morning.

I have 10 more delicious minutes to enjoy this tea and steepster before my students come in. It’s crazy hair day at school today and this first grade teacher has cotton-candy colored hair to celebrate! Oh goodness, they just peeked in the window and saw my crazy hair. So much for a peaceful tea time, hahaha, now they are all crowding around to look.

This tea has a definite calming effect. I don’t know if it’s the slight smell of lavender affecting me or if it’s the brew, but I’ll take it. This is the first Revolution tea where I felt that I would be making a purchase in the future. I’m a big fan of this wonderful tea! It was the perfect first cuppa for me today. <3

Had it after dinner at a restaurant, I was in doubt about it but it was nice, tried it with one sugar. Had this strong taste from the 2 black varieties that is made of & a barely but recognizable woody taste from the oolong, never crossed my mind it paired so well. The taste from the lavender & bergamot are quite nice. I want to try it again, it reminded me of the Blue Earl Grey by Tealosophy.

Bought this on a whim. One of my very favorite teas is Earl Grey and one of my favorite scents is lavender. I’m quite impressed with this tea and will definitely buy it again!

This was very light on bergamot and lavender. Probably should have had it straight but had it with milk. Was a decent cup of tea, actually, just not a good Earl Grey. I will try the other half straight or, perhaps, with honey. Thank you for the sample, janefan!

Amazing tea! I could drink this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great with milk, very comforting, almost nutty lavender-bergamot smell when prepared well, and Revolution prepares teabags using muslin, so the teabags don’t interfere with the taste. There is occasionally some variation between boxes where either the lavender or bergamot smell can be too strong, but overall a favorite.

This was my first ever Earl Grey Lavender experience. I loved it, but quickly moved up to a lose tea. Great for those who want to try out Earl Grey with Lavender. If I could get it locally, I’d buy a box to keep on hand for if I travel… As Earl Grey – especially with Lavender now – is my all time favorite tea of teas.

Tastes exactly how its supposed to taste: like strong lavender and bergamot. A flavor lover’s tea rather than a tea’s tea. It’s hard to tell what the leaves are like with such strong flavors at play, but if you like those flavors you will enjoy this tea.

Drinking this with just a splash of milk and a little sugar. It’s a lovely bergamotty, slightly floral and very smooth tea. I don’t actually drink this often but every time I do I wonder why not.

Even though I was drinking it old and stale, this is a lovely tea with strong notes of lavender. It’s good hot or iced (I’m drinking it iced today) and I feel, best sweetened.

This is a great starter lavender earl grey tea. I prefer a stronger lavender flavor but for those not used to the taste of lavender I’d recommend trying this one first.

An excellent Earl Grey, with a lovely fragrance, but I can’t detect much flavor from the lavender.
