Earl Red

Herbal Rooibos Blend by Samovar

Origin: Rooibos: Western Cape, South Africa. Essential oil of Bergamot: Southern Italy.

Flavor Profile: The bright citrus fragrance of Bergamot unified with the earthy, sweet, mineral deepness of rooibos.

Tea Story: Bergamot infused rooibos, for the Earl Grey lover who wants a caffeine-free alternative. Yummy with milk & sugar, almond milk & honey. This herbal is loaded with antioxidants & citrus notes. Earl Red is the perfect tea for under-age tea parties and bedtime relaxation.

About Rooibos
Only grown in the Cedar Mountain Area of South Africa’s Western Cape, rooibos is rich in minerals and antioxidants, and free of caffeine and made by gently roasting the tips of the rooibos plant, making the leaves a dark reddish-brown, and an amazing clear, red infusion.

Also known as “red tea,” or “red bush tea,” this herbal is pretty popular these days. A singular flavor that is slightly sweet with earthy, roasted notes of barley malt. This herbal is a native to South Africa and has been getting much publicity recently because of its abundance of anti-aging properties: antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins.

Food Pairing: Pair the Earl Red with anything you’d enjoy Earl Grey with: scones with clotted cream and jam, lemon curd tarts, chocolate cupcakes, or quiche Lorraine.

I have a few different Earl Grey rooibos blends before – but I think this one is the best of the ones I’ve tried. The bergamot is not overpowering or bitter or tasting like cologne. The rooibos offers subtle tastes of nut and wood and these flavors meld well with the bergamot fruit notes. Not too flowery, not too sweet. A very subtle approach. Nicely done.

This herbal blend took a few cups to get used to but now is one of my favorites, reminds me of a campfire. It has a wonderfully strong taste, I highly recommend giving it a try!
