From Siam Tee Shop

Doi Mae Salong Shi Er Black Tea Leaves, handpicked – Though North Thailand as a tea cultivation region initially became popular for its Oolong teas, growers in 2011 for the first time produced black tea on the basis of the No.12 plant that already in its first year conquered the hearts of every tea lover, who had a chance trying this high-aromatic Northern Thai tea novelty (quite some, actually, thanks to Siam Tea Shop). In the nomenclature of this tea, Doi Mae Salong means the cutlivation region, Shi Er is Chinese for ‘Twelve’ and hints on the underlying tea plant species.
The carefully handpicked, processed according to old tradition, and in both rolled and loose leaf form available ‘Chaa Deng’ (= Red Tea), as the black tea is called by its ethnic Chinese producers in North Thailand, shows a clear dark red color in the cup, and the freshly infused tea’s fragrance courts our olfactory sensees with cocoa, nutty and bloomy notes and already anticipates the mild and still substantial aromatic taste of this tea, which is often compared to a Ti Kuan Yin.
Doi Mae Salong Shi Er Black Pearls achieve the best taste result at an infusion temperature of 90°C – 100°C. We recommend an infusion period of well 3 minutes in order to fully assert the wide-facetted aromatic richness of this otherwise very mild tea, which suits very well for enjoyment in the evening, too.

I spent the whole day with DMS Loose Black Tea from Siam Tee Shop, I have a huge crush on this Teas sister DMS Black Pearls so how could I not also love it loose, there are a few differences in the two that I notice right from the start but both are equally great teas.
The dry tea has a sweet aroma when but not as sweet as its sister with pretty brown and black leaves and after the leaves are steeped they have a really nice slight citrus scent to them like some black teas do, the leaves are whole and pretty to look at like an Oolong.
This is a really nice black tea it has many nice flavors of raw cocoa with citrus notes, very little astringency and a thin dark brown liquid it’s not dark and thick like some black teas.
I’ve had many cups today and the flavors are very light with the first few steeps then get a little stronger by the 3rd steep and start fading after about 6 steeps but the flavor pretty much remains the same other than at the very end it seems to go very citrus when it is starting to fade out.Very nice black tea.
I do prefer the Pearl when it comes to this one but like I said they are both equally nice, I do enjoy the citrus notes in this one, Great Tea Overall.
Also the steeped leaves are very nice to look at most of the leaves are whole little brown leaves, very pretty.
