Snow Bud (Xue Ya)

Green Tea by Silk Road Teas

Tightly wound leaves characterize this Fujian Province, high-mountain varietal. Named for the occasional white snow-colored patches that spot the leaf, this tea is harvested early to capture a nuanced and sweet taste. Offers floral notes through its light-yellow liquor and it will linger in its aftertaste. Grown at a high elevation, when steeped long, it offers some astringency.

This is an exceptional green tea. It has a lovely sweet, grassy aroma, very delicious and light. I like to steep for two pots, first pot about 1 min 45sec, and for the second pot I like to steep for a little over 2 minutes. I was using water temp of about 170-175 but I think I like it better slightly lower temp of around 165.

Really good tea that crosses the boundaries between a white and green tea. Its a very subtle green vegetable flavor with hints of sweetness. Its a very clean taste and with a smooth vegetable after taste.

First cup. Steep 2 mins.
This tea produces a well-balanced broth that is most invigorating. Both hearty and calming, there are flavors of farm-fresh straw and dandelion. I am usually skeptical of tasting notes that seem to draw geographic attributes just from taste, but this one really does have a faint bouquet that remains in your chest like fresh breath of mountain air. Very drinkable.
