The Royal Golden is a rare top quality tea for the Yunnan enthusiast. Very rich in golden tips, it has a complex bouquet and a pronounced, spicy-flowery taste.
Recommendations: Use 1 heaping tsp. per 6 oz. cup; heat fresh water to a roaring boil; steep for 3-4 min. Try with milk and rock sugar.
After reading all these delicious notes for different Golden Yunnan teas, I just had to try this sample!
Tastes like a spicy, mashed up sweet potato! A little green bean-ish and “vegetal” (this word is so overused, but I have to admit it’s a good, general tea adjective).
Some butteriness. Smooth, no bitterness, with a slight, refreshing astringency. Scent is like sweet potatoes, too.
Pretty good, overall!
