China Golden Monkey (Fujian)

Num. This is a nice, light, yummy tea.

We came home early, due to the snow, so that means I can have some non-decaf tea! (I limit caffenated tea to work or on the weekends so I can actually sleep).

Asking the hubby what he wanted, he wanted Golden Monkey. Possibly so he could make monkey noises as I brewed it, but also likely because we both like this one.

It’s not a heavy tea, and today I tried it with milk and sugar, and it’s downright fruity. I can taste the cocoa notes as well.

This is the last from my sampler pack. I will likely order more once the tea shelf isn’t stuffed to the gills.

Lighter than I thought it would be, with very little malt and a slight aftertaste of bittersweet cocoa. Good way to start off the day.

The aroma is of fresh black tea and soft malt and the initial taste is subtly floral, bright and not terribly imposing. The back end carries the same light malt and cocoa as the aroma and lingers perfectly.

Very easy, elegant Chinese black with just enough body so as not to bore the drinker but rather retain in him a refined and relaxed interest for the duration of at least a pot.

Excellent. it’s always so smooth. I tend to describe this tea as “buttery” but I don’t think that gives people the right impression. This is a very nice tea and if you treat it right it’s not astringent at all. I like to brew it a bit cooler and shorter than the instructions suggest and I swish the infusion basket to make sure that the leaves are unfurling fully.

Strong, but not too strong, and with a lovely sweet finish. Can’t ask for a better Golden Monkey!

Everybody likes a little Golden Monkey.

One heaping tsp tea, 10 oz boiling water, 4 min, covered infuser. The dry leaf beckons with a toasty sweet aroma, and the tea does not disappoint. However, it was too strong for my taste, so will use less tea next time.
