China White Monkey King Green

Green Tea by SpecialTeas

The White Monkey is another handmade, small-farm tea that quickly becomes a favorite. During the infusion, the tender buds dance elegantly in the pot (sometimes referred to as “the ballet of leaves”) and yield a light-golden cup color with a very likeable sweet-nutty flavor. A wonderful tea and great value. The full aroma and flavor with notes of nuts and asparagus are usually only found on significantly more expensive teas. We recommend to try this tea soon as it will be sold out long before next season’s harvest.

Good tasting tea. Just an added note for those that like this tea – this White Monkey is supplied to Special Teas by Silk Road Teas in San Rafael along with a number of other ST premium grade Chinese teas.

A sort of green-white hybrid, with the juiciness from the white, but the long, dry grassiness of the green. A good clean finish. Very light, on the whole. Immensely drinkable, but maybe not worth the premium (as compared to Silver Needles).

Actually drank this one yesterday afternoon. Steeped it twice, both at around 180-185; the first for 2 minutes, the second for 3 minutes. Used about 4 level tsp in a 14 oz pot. Very good China green, I’ve been unimpressed by the last few I’ve had. This one’s very slightly vegetal and actually reminds me of a white tea (kind of like Drum Mountain White Cloud).

Good 2 infusions for the last cups of the day.

Brewed it the same way as last time, came out very good on both steeps. A bit nutty and I do taste a little spinach/asparagus, definitely in a good way.
