Produced in the Chinese Fujian province, this Silver Needle tea consists of the most tender leaves imaginable: single buds that are plucked right after they fully develop, but before they have time to open. The beautifully shaped buds of equal length are covered with white down. When infused, they produce a pale yellow liquor with an extraordinary fresh, sweet fragrance. A delicate and subtle treat for quiet moments and a wonderful Summer Tea when chilled.

I like silver needle tea, but when they’re butter smooth and flavorful.
This wasn’t. This was more “green” tasting for the few flavors there. I was bored with it as I was drinking it. And it was a little more astringent than I hoped for in a silver needle tea.
Temp is kind of vague for this tea. Steaming briskly to me mean about 185F. Little too hot for me. I use 170 at 3min. Very mellow tea and nice color. I think it is about 9 months old kind of lossing its spirit
First off, the temperature is not precise, which I know it needs to be for such gentle tea. Hopefully the experience wasn’t compromised.
The leaves are very pretty; they look just like the photo: delicate green needles coated in silver down. The wet leaves are a bit greener, and give off a faint bouquet of roasted nuts and peas. The liquor is pale yellow.
The tea itself is surprisingly sweet. It is very subtle. The first waves are blank, and the flavor doesn’t kick in until the middle tones. From there it very smoothly picks up into a barely vegetal taste, somewhat reminiscent of peas, which is rounded out with a sweet finish and aftertaste like I just finished a bowl of especial sweet peas. I like it a lot, and I am looking forward to comparing it with other silver needles.
