Left the bag in the entire time I’ve been drinking, and it never gets bitter, just sweeter and sweeter. And with more matcha taste!

The only thing w/ mangosteen I’ve seen is that ubber expensive scam “health” drink. Now this is something I’d actually drink. Although loose leaf would be even better.

wow…a 97? I might have to try this out!

Definitely try it, ladies! I think it was $3 for 30 bags at my grocery store. Stash also sells a loose leaf version online-only, which I think I’m gonna have to order based on my love of this.

Oh yes! I was gonna ask for this in our tea swap, but never mind. I’ll wait to get it loose:)

Backlogging from Saturday.

I will start by saying, I have no idea what a “mangosteen” is, so I do not truly know how this tea should taste. I am going to research and try and get a mangosteen so I can give this a proper rating. The dried leaves (I bought this loose from Stash’s website) smell fantastic. They are sweet and green, there are pieces of flower petals and lemon grass, there is an aromatic, fruity, fragrance with hints of matcha and citrus.

That being said, the tea tastes exactly how it smells: incredibly aromatic, very fruity, a hint of matcha and citrus, and it is SWEET. This was brewed hot, with no additives. The overwhelming fruit flavor is pear, it is almost starchy and heavy on the palate, almost too much to bear, almost.

I think this will probably do better, by better I mean be less sweet and thick, with a shorter brew time and maybe less leaves. If you like syrupy sweetness in your tea, then brew exactly as directed, that is what you will get. In the meantime, I will play with steeping variations and hopefully get my hands on a mangosteen so I can try and find it in there.

Highly recommended if you enjoy sweet fruit without any sugar added. Enjoy!

I loooove this tea; definitely give it another try. I’ve never seen a fresh mangosteen, but Trader Joe’s sells dried mangosteen pieces in their dried fruit section.

Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely try and find some, at least so I know what it tastes like. The tea was good, just a little too sweet for me.

Great review (as usual ;) )! I’m curious to try this, but I haven’t found it in the store yet.

wow – never heard of a mangosteen until now – just wiki-ed it — a superfruit, no less! The things I learn on this site — may it never end! thanks :)

OOH I saw a mangosteen thingy at the Indian grocery yesterday….I couldn’t tell if it was a jelly or the actual fruit. It looked white and was in a little cup (like a pudding cup).

This review is for the loose leaf variety. Did you know? (from the Stash site) “Put four 100 g loose leaf teas in your Shopping Cart and the one of equal or lesser value is FREE.” Well, I went over there to order some loose leaf Moroccan Mint, and ended up with 2 free bags (ahem). p.s…that’s not a “sale” (usual promo, been there a while).

Anyway, the smell of this one in the bag scared me a bit. Smelled like a weird mixture of scents. They advise to brew 1-3 minutes at 170-190, so I started in the middle. And I’ve seen mentions of a pink hue when brewed. Not mine (light yellow).

But the tea! I’m actually surpised that the ingredients meld together so well (green tea, orange peel, safflower, rosehips, hibiscus, natural pear flavor, lemongrass, matcha, natural mangosteen flavor, citric acid). Can definately pick out the orange peel but everything else is a jumble. It has an overall impression of Juicy Fruit gum (with a little orange aftertaste, lol). I added usual amount of honey, and it seems just right on the sweetness scale (for my taste). This is an excellent candidate for iced tea … will play around with it and report back.

A little while ago I was wondering about a mangosteen flavored tea because I love mangosteen. There aren’t many out there! This is one of the few, and so when I found a bag in my boyfriend’s mom’s tea stash, I grabbed it to try. It’s definitely not steeped under the best circumstances… water that’s probably too hot since I don’t quite know how long to wait for the water to cool (I’m so dependant on my variable temp tea kettle).

Of course, this isn’t merely a mangosteen flavored green tea… it’s full of other things like lemongrass, hibiscus, orange, rosehips, and pear. That’s a lot going on! Still, the flavor is nice. Sweet and fruity and tart but not too tart. I do get a mangosteen flavor overall, but there are definitely identifiable pear and citrus flavors. I do get a slight sweetness to this tea as other have noticed. I wish that it was just mangosteen and green tea, but it is a very tasty tea nonetheless.

Another tea from Bethany!

I was in the mood for something fruity this Monday morning and I think this hits the spot. It is very sweet and fruity but not tart. Sometimes fruit teas can taste tart but not this one. It has an almost juicy quality to it. I have never had a mangosteen so can’t comment on the taste of one, but I can taste pear in this which surprised me. Normally pear doesn’t come through in teas at all! I can barely taste the green tea and I think the matcha just adds to the sweetness rather than being obvious. Not bad for a bagged tea!

I think this may be a new favorite bagged flavored green tea for me – it has a sweet juicy fruit taste with a touch of citrus that blends very nicely with the green tea. Usually with flavored green tea in bags, I don’t expect a whole lot from the green tea, but in this case I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the green tea tasted. I added honey, but I don’t think I really needed to, in retrospect – this tea is quite sweet on its own.

I like keeping a log of my teas, but I kinda want the feature to just note that i had it, as opposed to a full review.

You can choose to log a tea and “write something later” – it will show up on your tea log (but not your front page) as a logged tea with no notes.

Nice! Thanks for the tip!

Very pleasant. This one takes more water than I ordinary do and still tastes very good. I have ate mangosteen before, they are sweet ,extraordinary and typical tropical(but more feminized ) .Pity for me that it’s kind of difficult for me to pick up the good ones,so I think the bad ones may take up quite a proptation (or I just suck at this?).
But the tea company has made excellent pick-ups from the raw fruits, I suppose. The mangosteen flavour here is cleary natual, with its sweetness and smooth、cream-like texture.Green tea,and Matcha(love it) make it refreshing without bringing in bitterness, very well blended. I will buy a box the next time .

I was kind of dissapointed with this one. Thank god this was only a sample.
The scent of the tea is just too bubble gum-like for my liking. This seems to be the trend for the flavored green teas I’ve tried so far. The taste itself isn’t great either. Not much tea flavor at all and definitely not much of mangosteen or matcha, just a dull brown concoction.

Had this tonight with some honey. I have the tea bags, and was very impressed! It tastes like pear and is slightly tart. I really enjoy the taste of this tea, and even though it is a green tea, I do not think you could oversteep it.
