Super Irish Breakfast

Black Tea by Stash Tea Company

The ‘espresso’ of tea, this robust blend of rich Assams, Ceylons and other premium black teas is an excellent morning cup.

I can’t recall ever having an Irish Breakfast tea before. In my mind I had visions of Colin Ferrell swooping in (wearing only a cape) and bringing me breakfast in bed. Not so much, but it was still a pleasant tea – more like Sir Michael Gambon (in a suit) sitting down for a pleasant chat.

It has a nice “umph” to it and I’m putting it on the short list of tea bags I’d like to keep on hand for occassional cups. To keep the quasi-movie-themed tasting note going: “That’ll do tea, that’ll do.” NE

a good breakfast tea, this time with some creamer, but the more i drink this tea the more it reminds me of generic orange pekoe. tastes good, but i kinda wish it were a little more unique.

I very much enjoyed this tea. Nice and strong for the morning hours. Plus how could you go wrong with a tea that has the word ‘super’ in the title?

Irish Breakfast, strong; / call it Super, yet it seems — / so Superfluous

Love this Assam/Ceylon blend. Stash did a good job with this tea. If you’re looking for a wake up call or an early morning kick in the junk, this is the tea which can provide. Very deep and malty. I only steep it for two minutes the first infusion and five minutes on the second. The Ceylon character is deeper in the second infusion. Lovely!

Found it to be less strong than their usual Irish breakfast. My usual tsp of sugar overpowered the flavor.

Delicious, basic black tea. I add a little bit of milk to my black teas, and this one goes down smoothly. Excellent in the mornings.

My usual morning brews consist of various darjeeling’s, but I decided to go with a more caffeinated blend. I do not use sweeteners in black tea. This brew does not come out bitter, thus not requiring milk or sugar. I found it to be very rounded. I have had it for weeks, but I can not tell that it is more caffeinated. Very good taste & worth a try.

I bought this tea for one reason: To wake up for morning classes. I can assure you that there is sufficient amounts of caffeine for the task. The base Assam tea was better than expected, and it tasted great after adding a bit of cream and sugar.\

It also helps that I didn’t miss my 7:30 class, and even managed to stay awake through the whole lecture.

I’m part irish, part super and eating breakfast, so this seemed to be the perfect fit! This is my second Stash tea, and I really like it! Great for a rainy day.

I’ve tried a lot of teas, but this has been my favorite for years. Hard to mess up a cup, even with longer steep times and water not at the perfect temperature. Rich and smooth, it hardly needs anything besides a mug, but it’s even more fantastic with a little sugar and half & half. I always have to have this on hand. For me, it’s got the perfect amount of caffeine- enough to keep me focused while I work tech support till 1am and get me going the next morning, but not so much that I become jittery or ill (I am rather sensitive to stimulants in general). The flavor is slighlty malty and naturally sweet, and is great hot or iced. Hard to find in stores, you’ll save yourself a lot of time just ordering this online.

Lightly malty, as most assam to me seemed to be. It has a coffee effect to me. Excellent for that morning boost. I loved it iced. Really recommend coffee drinkers to try it if you been wanting to switch from coffee to tea. It’s very robust!

According to WikiPedia, Irish Breakfast is supposed to have a good bit of Assam in it. However, this doesn’t have nearly the heft (robustness?) of the loose leaf Kalmi I’ve been drinking recently. It seems more like the Ceylon I drank this morning. That said, its not bad.

Feeling exhausted by a mediocre existence, I looked for something to help me rise above. Super Irish Breakfast, with its intensely dark liqueur and honeyed scent, seemed just the thing. The flavor is light and with a hint of acidity. So is my mood: I feel more awake now, but I have to get to work.

Today got off to such a good start, and then stalled out. After literally hours slaving over Blackberry Desktop, I’m back to where I intended to start the day: with a hot cup of motivational breakfast tea. Cryptic error messages and corrupted system files have devoured my dreams of a productive day at work and at the gym, bu they’ll never get my tea.

A good hearty cup for a productive day (at least it was productive until I logged on to Steepster).

Just what I needed this morning! Comforting yet awaking black tea. YUM

Decided to revisit this after a long hiatus. No real reason for the hiatus – just took a break. This is probably in my top 10 of Stash Bagged Teas. I really like it.
