Backlog 1/10 (including this countdown so you are all prepared for how much you will want to tear your hair out).

This one was sent to me by Michelle (I’m pretty sure…. If it’s not then I am sorry for forgetting you!). I had a couple of bagged teas over my hiatus because I didn’t have the energy to brew loose leaf. Stash is just an okay company IMO, and this was just an okay tea. It wasn’t very starfruity (for those unaware, a starfruit tastes kind of like an apple but a little sweeter with a unique tartness to it….. it’s hard to describe) and I mostly got really faint citrus-chamomile flavors, which is alright because I happen to like that pairing. This isn’t something I would ever buy but thank you Michelle for letting me try it!

Backlogging: I will not lie, I do not know what a starfruit tastes like. I have a feeling it’s bitter and goes will with citrus. Needless to say, this tea did not help me find out what a starfruit tastes like: the tea was mostly chamomile with a slight citrus afternote. I was really hoping for orange with mystery starfruit and chamomile, but instead got mostly chamomile.

Tonight I remembered to drink something without caffeine. Go me!

The first time I had starfruit was on a family vacation during high school to the US Virgin Islands. Starfruit reminds me of the bright blue seas and days spent SCUBA diving and snorkling. I wanted a tea that would evoke memories of that sweet fruit and that vacation.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Oh, it’s not a bad tea… but it’s base is chamomile, and the flavorings (not actual fruit bits, just flavorings) aren’t strong enough to break through the chamomile. Chamomile is awfully strong… it was an odd choice for this tea, I think.

So, the major taste here is chamomile, then if you look for it you can find orange. Starfruit? Maybe in my imagination.

Again, it’s not a bad tea at all… just not what I was expecting from the name.

It’s calming notes are helping since we put our kitty to sleep this afternoon.

Not bad just disappointing. Chamomile has third billing but it is the dominant flavor in this herbal blend. There is a hint of orange in the finish and I don’t taste any starfruit. Nice enough for a late night cuppa, but nothing to write home about.

I did not really taste an orange or a starfruit flavor with this one. It’s more like a plain chamomile. Disappointing.

I was expecting a little more Orange flavor or even a little more fruity flavor but this tea is Chamomile only. Before I took a sip the smell was fruity and yet the taste was extremely herbal. It was calming and could be used if needing a bedtime tea but totally not fruity at all!
