Peppermint Herbal Tea (Caffeine Free)

Herbal Tea by Stash Tea Company

Stash Peppermint is produced exclusively from top quality Oregon grown peppermint, which is considered the world’s finest. Oregon’s deep rich soil, moist cool winters and long dry sunny summers provide mint growers with the natural tools to produce peppermint. The mint is harvested in July and August and when properly cured (or dried) it is sold as leaf or to produce peppermint oil. Stash Tea purchases its mint leaf directly from Oregon farmers. It is sent from Oregon fields to the Stash Tea plant where it is packaged to protect the freshness and menthol content. Nothing else is ever added to our Peppermint tea. The result is a soothing, refreshing, aromatic drink that is superb hot or iced, any time of day.

The past week or so, I’ve been having digestive issues. Nothing too awful, but I’ve been constipated and my stomach hasn’t been in tip top shape. I’m worried I might have IBS, although I don’t know for sure, so I’m following the symptoms of an IBS diet. I really don’t have much of an appetite either, which I guess is a good thing, in some ways.

I normally eat fairly well, but I’m trying to even further refine my eating habits to see if that helps matters. So for the past couple days, I’ve been eating a vegan, high-fiber, high-probiotic diet. I’ve read a lot of conflicting info about what you’re supposed to eat/drink with IBS, but several things have suggested laying off caffeine, so I’m going to give that a try even though it means giving up my green tea and matcha for a little bit. Thankfully I don’t have to give up ALL tea, though. In its place, I’ve been drinking herbal blends of mint, ginger, and/or both. I’m also trying to drink at least one bottle of Kombucha a day. I used to not be able to stand the stuff, but now I can at least tolerate it. It’s not that bad.

I had this tea last night when I went out to a vegan restaurant. I had some pecan-crusted eggplant, which is read is very good since it’s high in fiber. We were only there for an hour, but I drank a LOT of tea. So much so, that I had to go to the bathroom 3 times, LOL. The tea was nice. I mean, it’s peppermint. Nothing too offending.

Anyway, I don’t know what’s going on with my body. Like I said, it’s not major issues, but it is uncomfortable, and the constant feeling of being “bloated” is really messing with my appetite. But on the plus side, I always wanted to try out a vegan diet, so this is my chance I suppose ;) .. Of course, with thanksgiving right around the corner I’m not sure if I’ll be able to maintain, but I will do my best. If my lack of appetite persists, I probably won’t be tempted to eat too much meat.

As a side note, if anyone has any advice on what’s worked for them, feel free to comment below or PM me. I’m definitely open at this point to anything that could help with relief :)

I don’t even know how many boxes of this I’ve gone through over the years. It’s not even anything remarkable, just a nice background tea. You know, one of those teas you enjoy enough to keep drinking, but the flavor is nothing noteworthy. For this reason, it used to be one of my favorite teas to drink when I was writing exams in university, it just kept my thirst quenched without being imposing. Like an non-intrusive movie soundtrack.

Last night at the Halloween party I had a few cups of this, and to “party it up” a friend offered some of her alcohol infused chocolate whipped cream to top it off. Wow ~ yum! It’s always nice to find a new spin on something that’s a little mundane.

I can’t believe I’m starting to pack to move back out! It feels like we just moved in. But I’m really excited that the extension project has not been delayed (so far) and is still slated to start on May 21st. I’m sure going to miss spying on our eagle neighbors though http://canadianadia.tumblr.com/post/49946001308 (I think this is my first time linking to my Tumblr – fingers crossed that it works)

Rating this tea makes me feel conflicted. It’s what I would deem a good fall-back tea. When I’m at a restaurant and there is a selection of bagged teas, this is generally the one I would gravitate towards, because I know it’s not bad.

I enjoy it enough, and it’s inexpensive to buy a box. It has its own merits in the convenient individual packaging and teabag format.
I feel I should decrease my rating a tad, but I enjoy the taste more than the teas I rated lower than this, even though the quality (ie. number of steeps) is much better with some of those other teas.

I suppose the rating is staying put for now. Although I feel it warrants it’s placement on my rating scale much more if I use two teabags per cup, rather than just one.

I can’t believe that there are so many bad reviews here… cos I really enjoy this tea! Yes it tastes pretty generic but since bagged peppermint tea is my comfort tea, that’s exactly the way I like it! Very minty, refreshing yet relaxing. I’ll always keep a box of this in my cupboard!

I drank a cup of this peppermint last night and got to try this from KeenTeaThyme thank you very much. This smelled really fresh and pepperminty and had a medium peppermint taste and was pretty good.

Backlogging this is a medium stength peppermint and is pretty good.

It tastes exactly how you’d expect mint leaves and water to taste.

One of the better mint teas – it smells amazing. It smells better than it tastes though which was a bit disappointing.

I wanted a new box of tea and my boyfriend wanted me to have a box of mint tea for school, so I got a box of mint tea. I’m not sure if I steeped it long enough or not. It tasted a little weak and not minty enough for my liking. I’m going to try it again later and see if I can get it stronger.

I drank half of the cup and then forgot about it while I was eating. When I came back I dumped a good amount of honey in it. That tasted fantastic! I might have to try cold brewing a bottle overnight and then dump some honey in it for some iced tea tomorrow.

I must have steeped this less than normal, because it doesn’t taste like peppermint except in the cool aftertaste. Like how your mouth feels after you brush your teeth with peppermint toothpaste. It is ok and I really need tea. After being used to having at least 2-4 cups a day, you have massive tea cravings when you don’t have it for a while. At least I do.

I went to see the Merchant of Venice with a group of friends yesterday. It was fun even if we didn’t get back until after midnight last night. I am really going to miss being a college student in about a year and living in a massive community of friends.

Took a conscious step to having a vegetarian diet today. Instead of having a chicken patty, I had a garden burger with some spinach and a green pepper. And it was delicious.

I steeped this one for five minutes and I swear it tastes more minty than when I steeped it for ten minutes. Either that or I am not used to having mint tea anymore. It was good nonetheless. I am making friends with the hot water spicket in our cafeteria. Having tea, juice, or milk with a meal is better than having soda with a meal anyway.

I am beginning to appreciate the low key mint to this tea. I brewed this at a slightly lower temperature this time. I’m getting used to being at college again and I was going through major tea withdraw. Unlike my roommate, I will microwave my water for my tea. I still steep my herbal teas like crazy though. I like a stronger herbal tea.

This is exactly what I needed after my first day of classes. Something with little to no caffeine and something that would make me relax. I just need to remember to bring my own tea bags to breakfast with me and everything will be good.

I think I may be converted into making myself pots of tea and having them in teacups. There is something so soothing about heating up the water, tempering the tea pot, and then steeping the tea. I have a perfect two person pot, so sharing is easy as long as I only have one other person. I also like that my teapot is ceramic, so it keeps the water hot for longer than I would expect.

I also like making tea in a teapot when I have to do something very boring. Like dishes. I heated the water and put it in the pot to steep my tea bag. I have no idea how long I left it in. I emptied the dishwasher, made my dad a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and made myself some tuna salad, so it was probably more than eight minutes.

I think I finally got the tea to steep long enough. It was probably a little oversteeped, but it didn’t effect the tastiness of the tea. You can taste the peppermint, but it is more of an after-the-fact taste. I can drink this straight, but I really prefer this tea to be sweetened with honey. I’m not sure how it would taste with milk yet. I should try it one time just to see how it goes.

I would prefer it to be more minty, but this tea just isn’t going to go there. It is good and I would recommend it to somebody that isn’t familiar with mint tea as a starting place.

Backlogging: August 17, 2011

I finally finished my bottle of cold brewed peppermint tea with honey. I discovered that the next time I do this, I really need to put in at least 2-3 tea bags in my bottle. It came out very weak with one tea bag even though I steeped it overnight. It was a really interesting way to make iced tea and I can see myself doing this a lot when school comes. It will be easier than making it boiled and then waiting for it to cool down.

This is my favorite straight peppermint tea – it’s refreshing, and great with a bit of honey, or unsweetened. I usually drink this when I’m flagging in the evening and need a bit of perking up, but not the caffeine.

This one was a smooth and soothing lovely gem. A pretty generically normal peppermint, it was cool and sweet. I could probably interchange it with my Celestial Seasonings one, labor honey into it and enjoy this during anytime of day or night.

This is good but without licorice root, I wouldn’t drink this nearly as much as I do.

Cut the bag open to let it steep free in the water. I don’t mind swallowing peppermint dust.

Some background – I got turned onto Stash by the person I consider to be my true grandmother. I have to say, when I realize more and more that this brand is really no better than Kroger Private Selection, with the added insult of smaller tea bags, I start to feel sorry for my deceased gramma, and wish she had been able to save money on Kroger’s store brand tea, or at least on Celestial Seasoning’s own spin on this tea.

Disappointed, because of its lack of strength. Am drinking it cold, and frankly, it tastes a bit like toothpaste. I mean, it is really cooling, but it is lacking severely in any real flavor.

I got a bunch of dust sitting on the bottom of my cup like so much sludge, and no real flavor to show for it, after I paid a bit more for less tea from a brand I was taught to trust.

Nice and simple: just Oregon peppermint! It’s a rich peppermint that leaves my breathe fresh with no bitterness. Nice multi-purpose peppermint taste.

It’s pretty good, but I prefer Celestial Seasonings’ peppermint.

I’ve come down with head cold for the past couple days and I’ve been living off this stuff. It gently clears the sinuses and soothes the throat. It’s a great tea to be having on this chilly evening.

What do you want? It’s peppermint. I love peppermint, especially when I’m feeling frail or sick or sleepy or dehydrated (since it’s basically just hot flavored water), and this totally fulfills my needs. It’s not as strong as Harney’s peppermint but when I’m in a peppermint mood, I don’t want something overpowering. I used to use this as a daily post-workout pick-me-up with a sprinkle of sugar and a yogurt accompaniment.

I usually love peppermint and all things minty, but this did nothing for me. It was equivalent to drinking sugar-water with the cooling effect after each sip. I always like to believe that I can make tea better by doing something different—less sugar, more heat, more steep, something. I really wanted to like this tea; but, unfortunately, this is one of those teas that I enjoy smelling more than drinking. Just my opinion…

I actually used this tea as a way to spruce up my hot chocolate. I brewed the bag and the HC powder in a mug and enjoyed. It was nice…for a mint tea. On its own….well ya, I do not drink mint tea, I find it a tad revolting. But as an add it was pleasant.

I’m a little sad about this being one of my favorite teas. I don’t usually like herbal, I don’t usually go for mint, and I’m very much a black tea fan. All of these things said, I think this is killer with almond milk. Great for when my stomach is a bit upset, or just when the mood strikes and I don’t need any more caffeine. A little sweet, all peppermint all the way. Sometimes tempted to mix this with cocoa to see what happens. Fair warning: I find spearment “yucky”, so as mint tea goes, this is totally my bag (hah… erm…).

This is definitely my favorite bagged peppermint tea. This amber-colored tea is perfect for an upset stomach, and tastes sweet (but not too sweet), but still has quite a nice minty depth to it! I always like to think my breath has a minty freshness to it after. I enjoy it both hot and cold.
