Having this as a latte. I went and grabbed a couple cans of coconut milk, and a box of coconut cream. I’ll be mixing up my own “coffee” creamer to have with my tea, but I thought I’d use some to indulge a little. :)

1/4 cup or so 60% coconut milk, 200ml extra strong tea, topped up with boiling water. Delicious. And the flavours in this puerh are such that the coconut milk doesn’t overpower. Yay!

that sounds yummy!

OMGsrsly

So good! Works with regular milk, too. Just use more milk and less water. :)

caile

Coconut ‘tea creamer’ – sounds yummy!

OMGsrsly

Yeah, I’m a little skeptical. The recipe is 1 egg, 1 can coconut milk, 2 tbsp coconut oil, all blended until more like whipped cream, and then refrigerated. I think I’ll do half a batch just to see…

caile

hmm..the egg part seems..different.. I’ll be curious to see how it turns out!

OMGsrsly

So far so good. I added a little powdered vanilla bean too. :)

OMGsrsly

It… works. It’s weird, and it didn’t set up at all in the fridge. I think it would be better if I just used the egg yolk and drizzled in the coconut milk… like I was making mayo. Which I’m sure sounds really attractive when discussing a creamer recipe. :)

sherapop

I tried a chai with coconut milk and somehow it seemed wrong to me. I’m probably just accustomed to regular milk/cream in a chai…

caile

I googled coconut coffee creamer with egg last night after reading this, and it seems popular and looks lovely and fluffy in the pictures I saw. Yours didn’t fluff up? Maybe the egg needed to be whipped up more or something – lol at making mayo.
Have you tried it it tea yet?

OMGsrsly

Sherapop, I usually use almond milk, but I’m testing to see if some additives and foods are causing digestive problems right now, so I’m using canned 100% coconut milk. It needs a LOT of diluting, and also needs to be kept warm so the oils don’t separate. :) Ahh well. It’s only a couple more weeks.

caile

I saw above that you did – yay!

Couldn’t tell exactly what this was supposed to be, but it was delicious! I definitely needn’t have put off trying this as long as I did. Definite nutty flavour, and the pu’erh base was earthy but not fishy. There’s supposedly strawberry in here too, but I didn’t really notice it – maybe a general fruitiness. Strawberry is usually pretty distinct, so that’s a bit surprising. The nuttiness here reminds me of the nuttiness in some of Butiki’s teas, actually, which is a very positive association.

Thanks for the delicious sample, OMGsrsly, or whoever passed on a sample from you to me!

Not a sipdown but it’s one step closer to one…and a step closer to getting rid of the boxes of samples in my house at the moment lol I’m not sure what a hazelberry is…but this is tasty and delicious and i will be enjoying more!

OMGsrsly

:P Hazelnut and strawberry. I had to ask when I bought it.
