Oriental Beauty Oolong tea is the most legendary of formosa teas. The name was given by a queen of England who loved it very much. The Chines name of the tea is Baihao Oolong. Baihao itself means white fur in Chinese. The origin comes from the fact that baihao oolong loose tea has white buds on it, and the more white buds on the loose tea, the higher grade of tea it is.

Hsin Chu Oriental Beauty Oolong is produced from tea leaves bitten by leafhoppers. The biting process is known as salivating when the insects insert a small amount of saliva into the leaves. Although the affected leaves curl downwards, the saliva is transformed into pleasant honey flavor when roasting. To attract leafhoppers, the tea plantations require to be pesticide free. You can be sure that the tea is all natural!

This is beautifully crisp!

It’s sweet, a little fruity, and hydrating and crisp…much like iceberg lettuce!

A delightful Oolong! Really wonderful!

Backlog:

A really, really nice Oriental Beauty Oolong. Sweet, deliciously fruity and a delightfully complex cuppa. I notice notes of plum (complete with a sweet and sour note), earthy, woody, and a hint of smokiness.

The flavors develop here as I continue to steep the leaves, so put this tea through its paces. Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/05/23/hsin-chu-oriental-beauty-oolong-3-from-t-oolong-tea/
