From Tazo

A rich blend of teas and spices (dark Indian black teas, ginger, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, and cardamom) in the style of the hill dwellers of the Himalayas. Mix with milk (or a dairy substitute) for a delicious hot or cold beverage.

Good for a standard cup of Chai.

Cofftea

There’s good chai, then there’s bad chai- for a bagged tea this isn’t bad chai.

Plastic in these tea bags so I avoid Tazo. Try Stash chai tea, has great flavor notes!

It’s good in a pinch, but it is a mild chai.

This is a solidly decent bagged chai tea for under $5. Nicely balanced spices — you can taste the cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, and black pepper in turn. Definitely the winner of my grocery store tea expedition so far.

This not only has anise in it, it is HEAVY on the anise.

I’m so glad this was in a sampler pack and not a full box.

EWWWW. I hate licorice anything.

I couldn’t bring myself to do more than take a few sips. I don’t think it’s bad tea, I just despise licorice.

Ew.

Got dumped.

This is my option for bagged chai at work.

My favorite element of chai is cardamom, but this tea is heavy on anise instead. These spices, for me, are best in a coffee or milk blended chai and not in a standalone tea. Still, it beats Stash and other bagged chais I have had.

My current favorite bag chai. Excellent with either honey or sugar, good mix of spices. Does well with longer (4+min) steeping; I usually set the timer to 4min but sometimes after first pouring water, sometimes let go a bit after timer goes off.

Used a standard tea packet, a dab of honey, and a tiny bit of half and half. There’s a hint of spice, but overall tastes watered down. Definitely not offensive, but not much to really like either. Might try steeping longer next time.

I actually got this as a base for kombucha, and it worked well as one. As a straight chai, I like it less but it’s ok for a bagged chai.

Nicely balanced chai blend! Pleasing aroma & taste that is not too overpowering. Very soothing and relaxing. I tried it plain first and then added milk, which I think suits the flavours :)
